About myself:
I am a Dutch man, 35 years old, used to earn my living in the ICT business,
unfortunately today my health won't allow me to work anymore. I spend much
time sitting behind my computer and if I feel ok I like to go out with my
camera. I am an amateur of course, read a lot about photography and experiment
a lot with all kinds of photo-related software. I therefore have build up a
reasonable theoretical knowledge of photo-related stuff, my practical skills
leave much to be desired.
I look for pictures here that tell a story and/or excel in technical quality and/or originality
I hardly ever just hand out thumbs, in either direction. I am not too fond of just the "nice" or "bad" critiques, and I welcome any suggestions on how to improve people might have.
I like to be frank when handing my opinion. Some may think I
am blunt, others appreciate my cander. You decide.
I don't hand out
very high scores easily. It may be nice to the maker, but I am not here to be
just nice. Nor will I often be caught giving two or three thumbs down, since I
strongly believe 99.9% of all shots have been put up here with the best
intent, at least someone made an effort.
Although it is nice to see
some thumbs up for a shot I put up, I hope you only put it up WITH a comment
that helps me getting better too. If you don't like a shot, tell me, and tell
me why or how you think I might do better next time. That's what I call
useful. Be honest. Regardless of what you think of my pictures, I will not let
this influence my judgment of yours. Come on, we are grownups !
I hope
this site will stay around for a long time! Lastly, please don't stuff
comments with "please judge my pictures... ", unless you are pointing to a
shot I should watch to understand your critique better.
