I'm a former NYC inhabitant now living in the S.F. Bay area.

I LOVE and have always been fascinated by photographs.

I'm still a devoted 35mm slide film user for as long as it can hold out & until some really good digital (for my budget) arrives. My Nikon FA's are now 22 years old are on the blink. I have 'upgraded to two Nikon N90s bodies & I have 3 lenses: Nikkor 28-50, 35-135, & 100-300 - all with 'macro'. Supplementals are circular polarizers. I'm not fond of color filters. I want (& need to) add some ND filters to my 'haves'. Don't even own a flash. They are all manual focus lenses which are starting to be a problem as my vision is no longer better than 20-20.

I love our National Parks, Monuments & Wilderness Areas & have been to all 50 states. I'm mostly an armchair traveler internationally - so far. Only visited 4 other countries. I'll go nuts with the cameras when I do some more.

For all the gripes & the minor flaws, this is an awesome site. It gets a 2TU+ but alas, I cannot say what Willis can do to improve it to 'flawless'.

I love seeing the world & creativity through thousands of eyes. I've learned so much more about photography here & I have made many acquaintences & new friends.

Technically, I'm not so knowledgeable, but I think I can be helpful with my own insights & experiences. I do my best to give thoughtful critiques that point out what does work for an image as well as what does not work & can be improved. I nitpik when an image is really good because it can be the difference between a wall-hanger or winning contest submission, or not. There's a lot of power in how we write. Read your critique & think about how it would affect you had someone written it about your image. When I click on a thumbnail, I'm hoping to see something good, not getting ready to tear it apart. I get very disappointed when a promising thumbnail comes up as a let-down in large size...

As a personal peeve, I no longer will critique folks that post but do not critique others, or only critique their select circle of cohorts who over-rate each other. I also want to know 'why' my critique or image is 'unhelpful' or is substandard.

If you want to ask me about good shooting opportunities in places i've been, or to just say 'hello' - drop me a line. I'm happy to share.

That's all for now.
