October 2007 -- I've been having a bit of a break from PhotoSIG this month. Whilst I'm still out there shooting.. I'm not frequenting the site. This has more to do with recharging my batteries in the evening when I'm usually critiquing photographs then anything else. This month I received my 35mm Nikkor F/2 D (50mm film equivalent) - finally! ... Shooting almost exclusvely with this new prime and really enjoying not having to walk to the other side of the road to get everything in frame - which was exactly what I was having to do with the 50mm prime I also own (75mm film equivalent). I also bought myself a SB800 Flash which I am only starting to learn how to use. .. Fun days ahead no doubt!

I'm consciously trying to focus more on 'Street Photography' and less on shooting inanimate objects. ... Unfortunately I am no Jeff Mermelstein - I'm not sure I can thrust my camera in the faces of strangers like he does... At least not in Melbourne where I think I would probably get thumped if I wasn't careful. It's a lot harder to take interesting images with people in them. Focusing on this type of photography is going to be a challenge - I certainly hope I'm up for it.

September 2007 -- The Nikon is everything I thought it could be and I've only just started to tap into its features. The fisheye sure is fun but my mainstay is currently the 18-200mm Nikkor VR lens which I am able to use most of the time. .. I have orered a couple of primes in from the states and I can't wait to get started with them (24mm and 50mm). Also getting some filters (ND8 and Pol) Not so easy to take sneaky shots of things any more. The DSLR doesn't easily lend itself to being squeezed into my pocket. .. It's a lot to lug around with me everwhere.. but it's well worth it. .. I carry the camera and the 2 x lenses in a oversized snout bag that hangs around my neck - It doesn't get much simpler then that. Photosig seems to go from strength to strength and I am seeing many great images from talented individuals that kind of make me feel less than special. ;-) .. Still, you've got to love this community that helps all of us grow. -- Enuf drivel for this month.

August 2007 --- (August 31) Pulled my Nikon S10 from my bag two days ago morning and discovered the LCD has been impacted and goo-ed under the glass. Needless, to say without the LCD working this camera is virtually a lost cause. Got out the plastic and sold my soul to VISA for the price of a Nikon D80 and some nice glass (fisheye and 18-200 zoom with 2 x primes on the way). The camera has only just arrived, so looking forward to being able to be a little more creative with my work.

June 2007 ---- I'm an I.T. professional living and working in Melbourne Australia. At the moment I'm using a Nikon Coolpix S10 which is a fine point and shoot camera and with which I get by until I can afford a DSLR.

I try to take my camera with me everywhere and to use it. I also try to upload the work I take each day, even if at times I don't think it is particularily spectacular, - I figure that if I was to wait for the perfect piece.. I would never upload anything.

May 2002 ---- THANK YOU everyone for SHARING your work and for INSPIRING me to take the camera with me everywhere. (To take it with me even when I don't feel like I can be bothered). Thank you for helping me see my world ever more clearly and for helping me to appreciate it's beauty. (I go WOW to so much more now) Thank you for your criticism constructive and otherwise. Thank you for saying encouraging things when you really didn't have to, and sometimes didn't want to. Thank you all.

.. And to Willis Boyce, the man behind this site:

A VERY BIG THANK YOU.
