I love this photo! Where was it taken? It reminds me of the Lavazza espresso machines and the elderly baristas in Italy. I'm sure there are people who will point out technical issues with the photo, but for me they work. I like that his hands are out of focus and a little blurred -- it suggests motion and it seems to fit the portrait. I love the model and I love that you've captured a very everyday, mundane moment and turned it into something beautiful.

I agree in theory with those that said a cropping the stairs out would make the photo better, but I tend to enjoy photos that really set a scene and make the viewer feel as if he is getting to be part of the same moment in time that the photographer did. All in all, I think the composition is good and it seems you have chosen a great time to shoot -- after some rain. Beautiful! That being said, I think the colors could be just a tad less saturated for a more natural...

I like your use of a small aperture to blur the background and draw focus to the subject of the photo and I like the lines you created with the wrought iron fence the bird is sitting on -- it almost reminds me of a branch. Good work!

This photo might not be technically perfect, as mentioned in the other critiques, but I love it. I think that a big part of photography is capturing the mood/vibe/feeling of the subject, and you've done a great job with that here. I love the misty fog of the outlying hills and the lines you created with the series of wooden posts going from the foreground to the background. Thanks for sharing!

I like the composition and the subject choice -- but I'm a little partial to Italy. I think HDR was a good choice here, but the photo overall seems a bit unnatural. Perhaps a bit too much sharpening. Thanks for sharing!

Love the blurred background, the eye contact, and contrast. Fascinating subject choice and great execution. Only critique is the dark shadow on the bottom towards the middle and right below her face. If it's a fold in her clothing, it might have been better off not losing those details.

I lived in Italy this year and spent a lot of time photographing it, so I definitely feel your pain on the straight lines front. The vast majority of buildings are not straight, so photographing them is very difficult. That being said, I think you've done a great job with this photo. The black and white works really well and you have a good balance of contrast without losing detail in darker areas of the photo. But most importantly (at least to me when I photographed...
