Hungry? Yes, definitely, looks delicious! I'm not an expert in still life, but to me your picture could use a couple of improvements. First, the quite large, nearly blown-out portion under the glass is quite disturbing. It's a pity since you seem to have managed to light a shining object so well. Secondly, I think this picture might work better with either a wider dof or a ridiculously short dof. Now it seems neither and the only really sharp section of the cakes is their...

Ha, very cute! These kids really have nice expressions on their faces, the one on the left clearly planning something, whilst his friend is deep in thoughts. Technically a good street snapshot.

Hi Ronnie and welcome aboard the PhotoSig! I think it is just wonderful that you can combine two interesting hobbies together with photographing trains. Now, this picture here could use some improvements: first of all, the left side seems a bit overexposed, you might want to work on that portion. Secondly, the plant in the fg is distracting. Thirdly, and this is strictly my opinion, the front of the engine alone is not very interesting. I would like to see a bit more of it.

Hi Sandra, I like the overall concept here. Snowstorms can be very interesting subjects, although not too nice to shoot in :-) I too would like to a slight increase in brightness. And maybe next time you could try a different angle. Shooting from a lower position could have made the tree stand out more. Thank you for posting this!

Hi Sedat, very nice colors and eye-pleasing composition. There aren't many key elements to this picture but you use them well: the ice, the leaves and the diagonal little stream. Very nice!

Great nature and action photo combined, Amnon. There's also a nice landscape semi-hidden behind the cranes, it's quite surprising that the dof seems so wide at f:4! The only thing I don't like is the unnatural looking tone in the upper part.

Hi Slawomir, very nice use of light and mist here. Well done. The winter light makes a beautiful atmosphere, you took this picture at precisely the right time of the day. So why only 1TU? To my liking there is a bit too much in your picture. The wires are too much in the center and sort of leave the left side of this picture needless. Perhaps you could try a 1x1 crop, leaving the left side (to the poles) and bottom part below the ditch out?

Hi Billy, I think this is a nice try. I'm not a big fan of HDR and your picture suffers from the most problems, IMO related with HDR: unnatural look and tones, unintentional halos, just to name a few. But on the bright side I like the composition and the underwater trees are very very nice! Anyway, I take it you like HDR, so my advice is: keep it going!

Jan, I simply love this! Enough was said in the previous critique about the overexposing and unfortunate crop, and I must add that I agree. But then again you've captured a moment and expressions that lift your picture way above its´ technical shortages. This is what good photography is for me, thank you for posting this!

Hi Ton, I know how you feel... Xmas with no snow in Finland, doesn't quite feel the same. Now, to your picture. I think it's beautiful. It's very balanced and well composed. It really stands out from the majority of pictures that are being submitted to the PSig at the moment. Well done!

Hi Robert, I don't think a street image gets any more British than this :-) I like this picture, too. The road is positioned beautifully and so is the row of flats to the right. And your processing does work, as well!

Well Gert, another excellent still life from you. You've decided to keep it simple, which is good, so I can't really think how to improve this image. You control your lighting very well. One thing I was thinking about was using a wider dof, but come to think of it your picture is propably better just as it is.

Hi Ian, welcome to PhotoSig! This is a beautiful picture with nice tones and detail. Your choice to include a substantial amount of undergrowth works well, atleast for me.

This is a very strong and emotional portrait, Martin. You've done a great and important deed in showing a mother's love at its' purest. The technically simple approach you've chosen is a very effective one.
