Simone, I see a lot of un-realized potential with this model in this image. First, she is a beautiful woman and a portion of her pose is (from her chest up) is excellent. Her right (camera left) hand/arm folded behind her back does not work well, in my view. Her lotus like position perhaps could work---finger and toe nails painted a uniform color---well planned. The "rock" she is sitting on looks to be un-level, resulting in an awkward looking position---this could be...

Keith, Excellent work with the background and sunset. I find the girl to be a distraction and would give this a 3TU if she were not in the image. I love the detail in the rock formation, the sunset and the reflection off the ocean---all beautiful. TFS. Bruce

Bob, This is a wonderful image of a beautiful skyline---and one that I know well. It was well seen and taken by you. You are looking/shooting to the Northeast, and Lake Michigan has made a nice background for your image. You have used an excellent composition. It is too bad that there was so much "haze" in the air---but most days you simply get what you get. The haze, however, completely obscures the break between Lake Michigan and the skyline. While your focus is...

Edoardo, This is a very well taken image. Your model is beautiful with intense eyes but a comfortable look on her face. She is well groomed and attired, with beautiful hair-- my only nit being her dangling earring which, in my opinion, is a distraction. Her pose is good, other than that the position of her shoulder looks neither natural nor comfortable. The lighting is exquisite, creating a somewhat dramatic effect. The image is...

Edward, This image is beautifully done! I passed over the thumbnail several times before opening it---not being able to tell what the photo was. What a pleasant surprise when I opened it. Your composition is wonderful. The rocks in the foreground mimicking your model's pose (or your model posed to mimicking the rocks in the foreground). I love the way your model seems to levitate out of the water----and her soft, dry, blond hair floating on top of the water around her...

Brendan, This is a wonderful image. The perspective and composition is perfect. You caught this train at exactly the right position as it rounds the corner. I am curious as to what lens and shutter speed you used as I would not have expected such a deep range of focus to have been achieved with an f4 aperture. Having said that, I like the dof used here but would like to have seen a sharper focus on the engine---especially at the front of the engine. TFS, Bruce

Simone, I've come back to this image several times. I see a lot of potential in it. I like the setting that you have used for your theme---solitude. A cemetery/burial place/crypt. The black&white presentation works well---provides a sense of aloneness, perhaps even coldness. The texture of the walls surrounding your model, scarred and patched---and in places not patched. One vase with flowers in it (from the visitor/model) and 2 vases without flowers. The models...

Paul, A tastefully executed image. I particularly like the perspective you composed---having your camera at the model's eye level. Her pose is excellent and you used a deep dof, providing a uniform soft focus. Her bracelet, in my view, is a distraction. All in all a provocative image. TFS, Bruce

Helen, I see lots of unrealized potential in this shot. The location and subject is perfect---as is the perspective that you selected. Seeing the "open" roof through the window is wonderful. I think that you need to zoom in some to realize the potential with the house. Then if you crop the photo to the left of the window---excluding approximately 1/2 the roof line, you will prevent the heavy brush from becoming a distraction. ...

Timothy---a well conceived shot that is probably worth going back and re-shooting! The color is wonderful----you should re-frame the fish to get all of its tendrils and open space in front, if done will---would get to a 3TU. This fish has the look of a fish on a mission! TFS, Bruce

Hayri, Will you look at the length of that tongue! Good job seeing and capturing this! It is well composed and shot---even with the difficult lighting conditions you have achieved a correct exposure. It is too bad that the leaves are obscuring a portion of the tongue---which to me is the real subject and it appears to me that your sharpest focus is actually on the dead tree in the right foreground when it should be on the ...

Ed, 1st, about the building: This is the Royal Arcanum Building designed by Alfrdo S G Taylor and built in 1905. It is on Station Pl which was a new road in Norfolk in the late 1800s, added to serve businesses that were established near the rail station for the Western Connecticut Railroad which came through in the 1870s. The coming of the railroad shifted the business center of Norfolk. The building originally housed the Post Office, a drug store, the Fire ...

Jon, Well seen, composed and captured. The tree on the right and left serve to frame your main subject, the grist mill. Your f/22 aperture and long shutter speed provided a correct exposure and a deep range of focus---resulting in the viewer being provided with lots of detail----yet, it is not too busy or too cluttered. I like the play of the sun ---and shadows at the water trestle and water wheel. A wonderful "Autumn" image. Thanks for sharing. Bruce

Patrice, A very nice vertical pattern indeed. I like the composition that you used and I love the reflections off the grill work. The partial chrome bumper at the very bottom of the image is a distraction, in my opinion. My suggestion is to crop the lower 20 to 25% of the image off, eliminating the bumper distraction and squaring up the grill work. Additionally, I suggest that the image be rotated counter-clockwise slightly to get the vertical grill work more precisely...

Good morning Daniel. This looks like a resubmission of your May 26, 2011 pink rose----but I like this presentation much better. While the light when shot still appears harsh, you have done an excellent job with the post processing here. The colors are vibrant and true and the slightly off centered composition works well. I would prefer, however, that the shorter open area be to the left of the rose as opposed to the right as the rose appears to be "facing" the right...
