Dr. Bob----Kudos, kudos for bringing out some of your "archived". I appreciate seeing them in part because they are of such varied interests and places. As to this image, the highly exposed "rock" to the left of the cave opening is an obvious distraction. Cropping the image at the left, shifting your subject to the left hand "third" ......then cropping both above and below your subject would significantly improve the presentation, in my view. I like the way that the...

Robert----Hmmmm, a home-made lens.....of your own making light-years ago, I am guessing. Kudos to you for pulling this out of your archives and doing wok on it. My guess is this could become sellable art! Composition is excellent, from my uneducated---self taught POV. Halo is, at first sight, a bit disturbing, but once the viewer understands the lens and process used, is quickly forgiven/dismissed. Model is well posed, camera position, just slightly above (about 12...

Jean-Pierre, Your model has provided a strong pose---and yes, she does look like she is thinking something...wants to say something. She has provided excellent eye contact to your lens and the viewer---but it does not appear that your sharpest focus is at her eyes....a minor distraction. Attire works well, leather motorcycle like jacket only partially zipped---an alluring décolletage. Heavy (probably gold--maybe silver) metal necklace works well. DOF is good----as one...

Oscar, A very happy accident! Composition is excellent, other than that the camera left (photo right) ---where some of her hair has been cropped out. As to the white balance-----I would try to revise this---bump the white, ending up with a high-key like image-----my simple thoughts. Thanks for putting this up for critique. Model's pose is excellent! Bruce

The subject of the image does not hold my attention long----then, I slowly begin to notice the symmetry---and----ti gets more interesting. Would work better for me if the two people in the background were not there ---could they be cloned out----perhaps if you are good with post-processing. You might want to try converting this to B&W-----bumping the contrast up as much as you dare----and adjusting the exposure. I think the result would be excellent---clean up the lines...

Elisabetta, Nicely captured! The "technicals" aspects of the image / camera and lens settings have produced a good result. Sharp focus, appropriate dof, good handling of lighting. Image is "crisp" / sharp ----and I am guessing hand held at 1/60th-----you had a steady stance----good job. Composition, too, is good----camera position is below subject and at nearly a 3/4 position to the right----nearly in the place that the man is looking----a good position. Original...

Francesco, Scene has the potential for lots of symmetry in it, so the centered composition is a good choice. Your camera position prevents that symmetry from being slightly non-symmetrical (brick joint not level at the bottom border, number of brick from outside edge of square openings to the right and left borders not equal (symmetric), etc , however-----and this is not a good thing. DOF has a "flatish" feel to it, with the focus on the brick work of the structure being...

Francesco, My first impression, upon opening the thumbnail, was; Is this a live model or is this a mannequin or doll of some sort? Je ne sais pas, je ne sais pas----. In this case, the model's upper torso (from her waist up) and her neck/ head position seems extremely stiff and unnatural---too straight, to erect. Lighting is somewhat interesting----White Balance seems cold---too cold , in my view, resulting in the bluish tones. Composition seems fine image appears to...

Alex-----Image is well taken, technicals are fine. Compositionally, I feel my eye being pulled two directions (not a good thing, as you know). First to the fieldstone picnic shelter # 16 and picnic area at the right (physically the largest component/scene in the picture) then to the in focus road that begins immediately at the foreground then to the left border. timing, by the way, for catching the Fall Colours is good------viewer, if they are being attentive, can...

Richard, I have, over the past couple of years, enjoyed seeing your work her. Your series on the trees in mist included. The technicals in this image are good---focus, exposure, dof. Compositionally, I would like this better if the r/h side were cropped in just a little, eliminating the horizontal rise (a clump of shrubs or other plant growth) at the r-h border of your image (which is distracting to me as it breaks the flow) and cropping off the small amount keeps you...

Yechiel,---My first impression was not wonderful, then I read your comments and realized that she is inside the bus, you are outside ---knowing that important fact immediately changed my impression. I like this very much. It is "street photography"----you have caught this rider staring off into the distance----clearly thinking about something that is going on in her life----not thinking about whatever it is she is gazing at-----she is "lost in thought"! The glare of the...

Karan, I am not sure I have critiqued an i-phone image before, so this will be a first for me! B&W format worked well----eliminates a lot of distractions, good choice. Framing provided by the trees works okay----would have worked better if the framing was not so "tight" at the bottom, particularly at the bottom left---but the idea is good---has promise. Image / Tour Eiffel looks tilted to the right. I detect "noise" / fringing at the edge of the tour structure---from...

Peter, This is, in my view, very well done. Your model's smooth, sculpted, curved frame somewhat mimicking the weather smoothed rock formations. The "ripple" of her rib-cage mimicking the weathering by water of the rock formation. My one criticism is that your model's body is perpendicular to the weather / water worn markings of the rock formations-----and I wonder; what would have this looked like if your model had been positioned lying as currently posed (head...

James, A Wonderful abstract, in my view. While I am not completely sold on the long vertical format created, I am completely sold on the sharp focus and, what are to me, realistic and vivid colors achieved. I can almost feel the softness of the green feather of the feathers. Layer over layer of feathers. The lime green iridescent outline of the pink and blue eyes (my name for them, I am sure there is a scientific/proper name for them) too is striking, very striking....

Alex----A beautiful, beautiful sharp focus and appropriate DOF selection. Water drops on the rose blooms----not on the stems and leaves---sprayed on or natural---je ne sais pas! On the very bottom leaf of the top rose bloom, there is a small "rose rust" spot blemish-----I would clone this out. It is not a serious distraction, but once I see it, by eye goes directly to it----a distraction. Composition is perfect------you did very well with what nature presented to you. ...
