James, A Wonderful abstract, in my view. While I am not completely sold on the long vertical format created, I am completely sold on the sharp focus and, what are to me, realistic and vivid colors achieved. I can almost feel the softness of the green feather of the feathers. Layer over layer of feathers. The lime green iridescent outline of the pink and blue eyes (my name for them, I am sure there is a scientific/proper name for them) too is striking, very striking....

Alex----A beautiful, beautiful sharp focus and appropriate DOF selection. Water drops on the rose blooms----not on the stems and leaves---sprayed on or natural---je ne sais pas! On the very bottom leaf of the top rose bloom, there is a small "rose rust" spot blemish-----I would clone this out. It is not a serious distraction, but once I see it, by eye goes directly to it----a distraction. Composition is perfect------you did very well with what nature presented to you. ...

Very well seen and taken. My only wish is that the dof be a little shallower, or that you, in post processing, defuse/blur the back-ground just a bit more. Strikingly "human-like" other than the fur. What animal is this----was it taken at a zoo? Your comments certainly add "texture" to the story the image tells----almost provides a voyeuristic feel! Hmmmmm, a kinky fetish! Thanks for having the courage to put this up for critique.

Francesco is correct on each of his points and I too am between thumbs. Glamour like this requires a higher level of perfection. Particularly if it is a centered image---really need near perfect symmetry for it to come off well. Francesco has pointed out several of the non-symmetry elements that detract---But, at the same time, we do not see many glamour/implied nudes from you---so I will mark you up to a 2 versus down to a 1. Perhaps not great logic---but it is a free...

Mario----Image is good and the viewer is able to detect much detail---colors are bright and cheerful. I think the model is the same as used some time back in a image titled "Domingo". Wearing the same clothes so perhaps one of the same shoot but a different pose. The appearance of the model's left (camera right) eye is an issue with me. It is almost as if the man is blind in that eye. In the "Domingo" image it is fine----but not here. So even though there is much to...

Jay, I like old barns and have tried several times to capture them----never very successfully, however. This is good---perhaps very good. I would like it better w/o the "chaos" of the dead vine (and the power line that some of the vine is wrapped on). Image was taken in the spring---as there are "spring buds" on the bush in the lower left corner.--------------------Have you considered B&W for this. As presented here, there is only a "touch" of color---B&W might add...

Alex, Hmmmm---Let's see if I can remember how to write a decent critique of a photo?? The prize of this picture is the composition / position of the dancer-----you caught her at the right time! Focus appears sufficiently sharp---viewer can see some of the texture of her skin. Colors are bright / interesting. I wish the top of her hat was not cut off---a negative in my view. Again, your timing was good----dancer has a nice, relaxed smile/facial expression---she is...

Maggie----First, Welcome to Photosig! We are a community of photographers and Photograph critics with a wide, wide variety of interests and expertise----some professional, like you, who make a living at photography----others who are hobbyist/amateurs, like me. The one thing that binds us is love/enjoyment/passion for photography (especially good photography). Your first submission is striking----it literally "shouts" to me----but in a gentle, tender way. What am I...

Steve---If there is some symbolism here---I will admit to missing it. The vintage nature of the scene creates some interest. I'm a little mystified by the image---and will also admit to having read the other critiques. While none of the three crits have stated what is obvious to me. You have your model in a "dead" pose (eyes wide open)! My mind runs to: this is a brunette Miss Kitty of the Long Branch Saloon in her private living quarters at the back of the Saloon. ...

Jan, Well created and captured----and a little different genre for you----good work. The "blue" ink is vivid and striking---the pin-stripe boarder is additive. We see the "lady's" long slender legs and the outline of her "curves". The "parasol" is the perfect conclusion. Thanks for putting this up for critique. Bruce

Zlalko---this, in my view, is a little sexist. I understand the theme----Hot Cars/ Hot Women-----and have seen it carried out tastefully. This, however, does not achieve / accomplish that. Thanks for putting this up for critique. Bruce

Dustin----The Red Mill, Clinton, NJ----first built in 1810 so the original part of these buildings are over 200 years old! In my view, you have done a good job with the composition and capture. Image is busy----there is a lot for the eye to take in---but it works well, is not too busy. Vivid Red Mill building is located at the left hand "third"----a good position. The diagonal line of the dam creates an interesting element---as does the reflection on the reservoir...

Moti---I really, really like the "feel" of this image. Silhouettes against a warm, warm sun-set. Compositionally, I think you could make this a much stronger image by cropping at the left----moving the crop in to just inside the two vertical railing supports-----eliminating the distraction of the vertical supports AND shifting your "lovers" closer to the r-h vertical "third"-----then, if you have data to the right, push out your right-hand border just a little, again, to...

Tom, You have really caught a good moment here. "Selfies" seem to be all the rage with anyone with a cell phone......world wide! From a composition point of view, as presented here the image is centered. It would be stronger if you shifted your subjects to the r-h "third" by cropping off as much of the right as possible---right up to (but not including) the camera right elbow of the girl in the white top. B&W was the right choice as it downplays all of the "busy ness"...

Joel---This series has been enjoyable to view as I've witnessed some of what you've been able to capture at Death Valley 3 or 4 summers ago. Here, you've caught the morning light well ---I was there mostly at full mid-day sun. as you point out, the strong contrast between the light and the shadows make this a strong image. Compositionally, the mesquite bush at the lower right adds color and sort of "anchors" the image. I am less excited about the alkali/mesquite bush...
