I agree this could use some more contrast on the steps, but not alot. And the photo seems unfinished at the bottom, like its cropped off too abrubtly. Neat abstract, grabs my attention.

Cool composition Stefan, and colours look good. Could be sharper, but not bad sharpness for using a telephoto lens. I have that lens too and never considered it for shooting something so tiny, especially since the working focus distance is something like a meter away. You can mount it on a Canon?

Very interesting Johan! Its a pleasure to view such an interesting shot. I think the pavement on the top half could use some colour correction; the cyan and bluie cast from the sky is overbearing. Desaturating it may give more impact, contrasting against the water which is actually blue.

Nice and sharp shot, Richard. I like the title, makes me take a second look at his legs:) I don't mind the composition, but agree the tones fall flat.

Hey Yuri, I'm liking the idea, the colours, and the composition, but the glare on the water's surface is hurting the contrast, notably bottom left where its pretty foggy looking.

Hi Robert, this will make a nice contest entry, its fantastic so good luck! I love the rim lighting on the mossy rocks, the light is what makes the shot. There is detail everywhere, a pleasure to view. There seems though to be a distracting magenta in the background, at first I thought it was the temperature, but I beleive it to be more the tint. I put your jpeg through photoshop camera raw (CS4), and moved the sliders, -7 temperature, and -20 tint and I feel it adds to...

Wow Doug, awesome! Overcast conditions make for a great exposure, with soft light bouncing off of the water to show all sorts of great detail. A ver
y dynamic pose and an interesting thought to give this a panoramic layout, great idea to push it to 3 thumbs, I really like it.

Right away I thought, '3 thumbs', but something looks weird with the far eye...its either under heavy shadow or just not in our line of sight. In any case, it seems like a deformity. I see Alex says something similar. But yes, impeccable photo with such sharpness, excellent background and what must be a healthy-looking histogram. Nice work Jan.

Hi Lynne, pretty good shot of the otter(?) Too bad for the fish scales being so refective, makes itook like hes eating a peice of trash at first glance. If you use photoshop, make a saturation adjustment and lower just cyan and maybe blue too...there is a distracting color cast from the sky refelcting off of all the wetness. This is sharp where it needs to be, but if only that back foot fell into the focus area by using aarger dof, since the foot is a prominent feature...

Lighting looks ok except for the all-important eyes! Lrge shadow from hair on just one eye isnt working here and shadow all around her left eye makes her look tired. Nice skin tone and eparation from background. Thanks Patrick.

Hi Jane welcome to photosig. Sorry to thumb down your first post, but I'll make it constructive. First impression, overly contrasty; lucky you to have a heron fly alongside, but the time of day not doing you any favours, creating very large hotspot clouds, and harsh shadows in grass and underside of the bird. Compositionally ok, you've followed rule of thirds but its a very loose crop leaving alot of uninteresting and contrasty stuff to detract from your subject. Thanks...

Hi Simon, although the composition I find too centered, this is a nice shot to document this next stage in the monarch's life cycle. Really sharp showing detail and great color to pop it off of an already good background. A glare reflecting from its rear end is an unfortnate distraction. Something that is way beyond your control, I wish he made his coccoon on a stick or something else natural. Thanks.

Interesting and artful shot Arbi. The very shallow dof works for me, but I think there is more oof arm and hand(?) at the top than neccesary, it is distracting. Nice soft light and colour.

A nice peice of art Sven. To respond to your two concerns I enjoy the contrast here, except the top dark area may be too heavy...but it may fit in just fine if shot in landscape format, cutting out some excess water from the bottom. And after looking again in regards to contrast, I think highlights are fine but midtones could be brightened some.

I have never shot a model in a studio, but I can lend my initial thoughts to you KH. The colour of her legs is bluish while the skin tone on her torso seems mostly ok, except for the redness on her left shoulder. Again, no experience here, but her feet seem awkwardly posed, and I think black shorts would have been neat, right between black hair and black heels. The blue denim seems like an overly-dominant focal point here.
