I think your photo conveys the peace and stillness of the church very well. The view through the trees gives a feeling of deapth and the illusion that you have just come out of the woods, rather than from a busy road. This is accentuated by the strip of green grass going past and behind the church. Well done.

This is a nice image. I do wonder if you don't have two competing pictures here. Try covering up the girl with your thumb. The result seems to me to be a very nice waterscape, full of the joys of summer. Then crop the picture so that you have the right half and the top two-thirds. Now you have a lovely shot of the girl crossing the log. It seems possible to me that each of those two might be stronger than the existing crop.

It's a nice image. I love the colors and the square format. i do wonder if it might be better if you cloned out the wooden pole? I have a feeling that the two poles at slightly different angles compete with each other in an unsettling way.

This image speaks to the longstanding discussion about the nature of photographs of works of art: Are the photographs independent works? Could a photograph of a work of art be "better" than the original work? I have been to the Walker and I never saw that statue in quite the way that you captured it. Your photograph lends new meaning to the statue and I thank you for that. The technique could have gone in many directions: More even light, a sharper image, different...

falling water (2)

I think that the main problem here is the focus. As best I can tell, neither the stone nor the water is in focus. Perhaps the camera focused on the falling water, which is blurry because of the slow shutter speed. Or, perhaps, the image is handheld and the blur is due to motion. In any case, I don't think there's much you can do now to save it.

Great composition. I like the way the line of the clouds and the wave work to highlight the sun. The cross formed by the sun's reflection and the wave is also effective.

What a lovely, evocative picture. I can feel the cold, damp air. In my day, you would also have been able to smell the coal fire in the farmhouse behind the photographer. I suppose that time's gone by but the English landscape lives on. Thanks for this great image.

This is an interesting view of an interesting structure. Your choice of viewpoint shows off the transition from a square tower to the hexagonal support for the round tower. It also gives a sense of the way the lighthouse looms over its surroundings.

I see this as a steam punk version of the Statue of Liberty's crown. As such, I like it a lot :) Technically the focus, depth of field and B&W conversion are all good. A little more light in the shadows might help?

Product photography is hard! In this case ther are a number of things to correct. The dust on the glass in front of the lens detracts from the sense that the product is new and desireable. There's too little light on the right side, making it hard to read the distance and f-stop scales. The reflections from the lens are distracting. You might have been able to cut down on the glare in the lower left of the lens with a polarizing filter. Finally, the reflection of the...

What an interesting image. I like the sense of the roughness and age of the monument. It could almost be as old as the pyramids. I also like the straight edges in the center and right contrasted with the curve of the left-hand edge and the side of the monument facing left. I think that the decision to crop the bottom right corner is a good one. Technically, I guess one could argue that the whole monument should be included, but I think that the image is made more...

Great shot. I like the placement of the pyramid and the sense that it's all about to be buried in sand. The darkening of the sky at the top gives a hint of the ominous feeling that must have pervaded the scene. I wonder if the image would be improved by including something in the foreground? Or starting a little closer to the pyramid?

Very nice job. It took me a while to figure out that this was really a very small model. You've done a lovely job of lighting it and of placing it in its surroundings. Well done!!

I would definitely crop the bottom and I agree with you that the thighs are about the right point. I think that gives much more emphasis to the woman in the swing.

What a lovely shot. I like the way the colors in the windows on the far wall show through the windows in the near wall. The framing seems excellent, although I might have left just a hair more space above the peak of the tower? The play between the window colors, the color on the side of the dormer and the colors in the paint work is very nice. You have a little bit of perspective distortion - the lines are diverging upwards. I'd be tempted to correct that. It's...
