Hi Jeannie
Sorry for being a bit harsh on my review, but I think there is often too little criticism in these forums - after all it is about finding ways to improve.
I would have taken a moment to think what I wanted to communicate with the photo. If it is the horse, I would take out the foreground flowers (they take attention, but are out of focus anyway), Improved the exposure on the horse (it is partially blown out) and zoomed more into the horse (the tree behind...

I like it a lot. Very cute, yet not cliche. Instead its original, having the atmosphere from a past era which suits the cute kid and its clothing. The atmosphere is strengthened, I find, by the darkish circle around the image.

Love the colours and the atmosphere. Wonder if a bit more space on the left (perhaps even landscape format) would not work better. Still - I the photo and the atmosphere are captivating.

Hi Jeff
I find the lighting works very well, soft, yet bringing out the colours well. I would have opened up the lens more to reduce the depth of field in order to make the background less distracting.

I really like this photo a lot -- the various diagonal lines leading to the girl, the tones, the sensuality. Technically it is superb and I like the lighting a lot. I guess this photo not meant to stand on its own, but that it is meant to be used in a context where the book is relevant - if not, I would change the composition and remove the book.

Like the photo a lot and wonder if it would no be even better with a little cropping at the top - I find it a bit top heavy. If you crop as much as you can without breaking the frame provided by the surrounding foliage you will shift the focus of interest (the grass seeds) out of the center of the image and lighten the image from the top.

A very interesting photograph with both background and foreground lines leading to the mysterious point of interest. In order to improve the photo I would not only try and lighten the dark lower left corner which draws the eye, but would also like to address the band at the left edge of the photo.
