Lighting is good here Dave. You also captured a genuine smile! The shadow across her face is a bit limiting. Also, the shot overall seems a bit busy - with the branches, butterfly and piece of brick on the bottom left - perhaps a bit of de-cluttering might have helped!

Great shot! Similar to the other critique, I think the train could use a bit more breathing room all around the frame. Love the colors and the HDR look!

Hi Michael, nice lighting! I think the shot could have been improved if you had them move slightly away from the tree in the immediate background. The two different colors above her head limits the potential of the shot a bit in my mind. Also, I do miss the connection between the subjects. Even if you had her arm on him somehow, I think the intimacy between them would have been better portrayed. Cheers! Jonathan

Hi Arjen, I think the lighting is good! I find the cage really distracting though. It really takes focus away from the subject. Also, her skirt looks dirty. Maybe it is a pattern of some sort, but IMO it isn't suitable for a photoshoot. Thanks! Jonathan

Hi Illker, for me, there is nothing really interesting in this shot. One of the boats is cut off and the horizon is crooked. The sun is creating a hotspot on the frame which is distracting in my opinion. For me the processing seems like an attempt to spice up uninteresting subject matter, which I find unappealing. I think the subject defines the shot, and processing can be used to enhance an already great subject. Others might find this photo appealing, but that is my...

Wonderful photo! Crisp, clear, and tack sharp - fits perfectly with the subject. The colors really pop. There is something white on the top right that I would clone. Also, my eye is drawn to the right side and I am wishing that the bushes would end before the frame did. I am sure it would not be possible to have done this, but ideally, I would have liked to see some space between the bushes on the right and the end of the frame. But overall, I really like this!

I love this! It feels like the model is standing over viewer - with her hands on the doorway - it adds a feeling of dominance. The processing is wonderful. I love the tones of the black and white - although I think you need to pull out a little more detail in the skirt. On my monitor it is all black. I would also clone the black square.

I love it!! Colors are very dynamic. The shot is full of action. It is very candid and genuine. On my screen - the woman's white shawl on the right is a bit blown out. Great shot!

Hi Mathew, technically I think this is a nice shot. I like the black and white - it seems a bit gritty, which is a nice for the scene. The shallow depth of field is also well done - placing focus on her head. Overall lighting is good, although her left arm is a bit hot.for me personally however, where this shot falls down is on emotional appeal. There are countless nudes of attractive women in black and white, naked, looking away from the camera in some sort of...

Hi Peter - I think the processing is very well done here. I love eerie black and white photos like this with lots of grain. Black birds always add great drama. To me where this photo falls short is that kids playing on the bungee jump contraption has always been associated with fun and happiness. My kids go on these things all the time and they love it. So to me there is a disconnect between the overall mood of the photo and the subject. There is a tension for me - I...

Wonderful photo! I love the light on the rose petals! The reflector allowed you to direct the light to the flower petal, while putting the leaves more in the dark - again allowing the eye to be drawn to the petals. Two small things - I would clone out the bright spot above the glass. Also - and this is getting really picky - but would clone a bit at the bottom of the glass to make the edges of the glass stem even on both sides. Cheers! Jonathan

Karin - I absolutely love this! Great dynamic range and texture. To me this is one of those times where the road (?) being closer to the center of the frame projects a bit of tension. I think if you could have kept the road a bit closer to the right, following the rule of thirds - the shot could have been made even more compelling. Of course, this means you might have lost one of those wonderful trees, so I can fully appreciate why you chose this composition. ...

hi bill - I like this shot quite a bit. the exposure and tones set the mood well. the graffiti really adds to the shot and the subject has the right mood given the scene. Overall the scene seems slightly warm to me. also your subject seems to be leaning out of the frame - I might have positioned him the other way. Cheers! Jonathan

This is really stunning. How did you get the colors to pop like this? I just love it. The photo is equal part dominant on color as well as texture which is rare and compelling. I might have brought the brick line down just a bit - bringing it in line more with the bottom third and eliminating a bit of the brown which slightly dominates the other colors in my mind. Excellent shot!

Hi Emil, I absolutely love this. There isn't a thing I would change. It is almost as if the building is cringing, anticipating being bitten by the backhoe. I love the colors. The shot isn't overly sharp, but I think it works well here. Overall a great shot! Jonathan
