I completely agree with Rienko. An other possibility would be to cut the photo in half (remove the bottom half). Then the most fuzzy and distracting part is gone. Allthough you lose the lines of the road, pointing toward the mill, in the composition...

I don't agree, as to me the lines are what makes that picture different from all the others I took of this windmill !

I can understand you like windmills, this is agood composition with the windmill and the road. You used a 400mm so the perspective is shortened considerably which indeed creates a good effect. I think thoug that you shouls have used a slower aperture: f/22 or so in order to get more of the foreground sharp. Or at least sharper than it is now. Another possiblility might be to focus on a point closer to the camerea since usually the background will remain sharp but you will add sharpness to the foreground. Maybe that would take some of the attention away from the windmill, but now the unsharp foreground also absorbes attention. I don't think it will be easy though to get an entirely sharp picture with 400mm. But I like the idea!

Yes, I agree that it would be worth trying the way you suggest; when I took the picture, though, there was a strong wind, and any shutter speed below 1/250 sec. might well have resulted in an unsharp picture ... all over ! Anyway, you gave me good reasons to go back !
