To me, the composition is nice. I believe that DOF could be better but the flower has good sharpness/texture as well as nice colors. Besides, the flower is the subject and the branches are just part of the composition. In such case, DOF it's not so important.

Wonderful curves , colours and textures . I love the driftwood curving round the Lily which stands out like 3D . The dark blue background compliments the flower so well .

IMOP,While the flowers color is well saturated, it still appears flat and bland, not much color definition, contrast or highlights, everything blends together, the lighting is too even. The green leaves, however, show good color with
lighting that shows a hint of highlights and shadows that define the different planes of the leafs surface.
The composition, again IMOP, is way too busy and
distracting, almost maze like and as others have noted the focus and depth of field could be better, regards.

DOF is not good, overexposed, overrated and there are much better shots of flowers that don't get more than 30 points but this, for some reason, gets on the main page!?!

Nice composition, but really not great on focus (was a tripod used?) or DOF. I would try again and close the DOF up or totally eliminate it. Not sure what apeture control your Sony P&S has so I can't speculate on which way to go. Sorry but this is not front page quality.

Very nice photo however, I do not feel the focus, DOF is strong enough. The back petals of the flower are much too soft and I feel for this photo to work perfectly, the entire flower must be in focus. I also feel the flower is missing much of its textures. One of the petals shows nice textures, while the others are lacking the same amount of detail. I am not sure if you did any post-processing work on the photo that in effect took away some of the textures. I may get nail for this one, but I get the feeling the photo is very slightly overexposed. This may be a reason why the textures do not show well. Finally I petal on the left side crossing the branch is very distracting in this presentation. Since this is a composed still-life photo try to make sure the flower itself is not weaken in it presentation by the background.
I do however like the strides you took to compose this still-life. The framing looks great and the colors are nice. Just tweak a couple of areas and the photo would be perfect.

Blue, Brown, Green, Orange: excellent combination, perfect the background color choice, great clarity (focus) and sharpness of the flower. Also its positioning on the mid-left and the opposit direction followed by the green leaf gives a strong dynamism to the whole work. Really another great from you ! Ciao, Cris.
