Hi Anna. You will notice that this photo was posted in 2002, and if you click around the links you'll find that this photographer last posted a photo in 2010. It's really great that you are writing critiques, and you do it well, considering what you see as a language difficulty, but it would be a pity if you became disappointed if you don't recieve response to your critiques because the photographer is no longer here or the photos are very old. This is an outstanding photo. The contrast in colors is wonderful, as is the reflection. I am wondering what a landscape shot would have looked like. And..I probably would have cloned out the stick floating in the water...Very very beautiful work!

I know if I had taken this shot I would have backed up or zoomed out to include the entire tree's reflection at the bottom, but I clearly would have done it wrong! This is perfect. Sharpness is amazing, colors, rule of thirds... everything - perfect. GREAT job!

I love the whole composition - the bluish surrounding of the boat and the boat in the warm sunlight with it's reflection in the water. It catches the eye. It's beautiful foto.

The color and the detail in this photo really stands out to me. The mirrored boat in the water adds a lot to the affect of it being lonely like it just doesnt want to be there. It also makes me wonder where the captain is

Wow! Great shot! I love the color and level of detail here! I personally agree with Derek about the clouds on the right looking washed out, but my main problem here, is(and I don't know if the environment here gave you any choice or not but) the boat's reflection looks a bit too close to the edge of the picture... It's still a gorgeous picture though!

Hello Aslan, many things work for me with this image, mainly the warm color in a background of cool blue. When I look at it closely I'm wondering if you used a polarizer. It seems like if the colors were a touch less washed out it might have a more solid feeling overall. I'm not sure on this as outdoor work is one of my weak suits.
I like this very much overall, good eye and composition.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I used a Cokin linear polariser but I am not sur if it worked or not. Since this is a range finder camera and you can not see the effect of filter through the viewfinder. I Tried to replace the filter seeing the effect upper the camera.

You know last week I was in ILDIRI and I found myself trying to take similar photographs to this one, it was pretty late in the evening after the sun went down, so I never had enough light to do it right. I was sure I saw your photograph in the first page of "all times best" or however they categorize such, so I wanted to view it again and enjoy. Beautiful job.

I like everything in this photo: the color contrasts, the way the boat is between the two small trees, the fact that there are three trees in the picture, the position of the horizon line, the perfect reflection of the boat, the white clouds in the sky...

The still reflection of this image creates such a feeling of peace and solice. The colors add to this emotion. The light blue background is punctuated by the main subject bringing your focus back to the boat, where it belongs.

I LOVE the colors here, so raw and so nicely complimenting of one another. The steeper part of the mountain which rises behind the smaller trees looks good and I don't feel distracted by the small bits of wood/debris scattered in the water. The only thing that does draw my attention away from the focus is the "x" shape to the left of the boat, possibly its anchor. I think it would be more pleasing without that showing. Otherwise, its breathtaking.

Really a pretty image, I like the reflections of the tree and the boat
in water. But there is also full with small é¦ments (pieces of wood?) who
disturb the image. Then I find the color of the not very intense sky. But that remains an interesting image. Good continuation

Good Job, it looks like you put the boat on top of mirror. Lighting was good to make the main subject stand out from the picture, color contrast and the oven all contrast looks good to me. The only thing that I dont like is the broken wood across the reflection of the boat.

I like the warm sunshine on the boat and its rough wood while the rest of the image is cold and still.
I don't understand what makes the water just behind the boat look like it's frozen - a longer exposure I presume - but it's simply perfect like it is.

The thing I find most striking about this photo is how surreal it is. It is rare that someone can capture a natural shot that appears so unnatural. My hat's off to you for such a great photo. I am hoping one day I can either get lucky and take a photo that compares or can gain the skill to take something this impressive.

For first: good picture. But the resolution is at a very low DPI rate... The water is greasy, and the sky a bit dimmed. I don't think this was because of the real situation, but in consequence of the low resolution of the picture. Good subject and right moment to shot, but the processing could be much better. Regards.

Nice capture. One thing... Could you have cleaned some of the crud off the water between you and the boat before snapping that shot though? Either way, I strive to capture moments as well as this.

It is very hard tyo find moments that the water is so still that it becomes a perfect mirror. The reflection is incredible. I simply love it.

It look like a dream! But ok, let's land on earth again. Reflections, image quality and sharpness are great. Lighting and colours are wonderful too. What about a little bit (not too much) tighter crop? Less sky, so as to concentrate on main subject.

This shot was beautifully composed. I really do not think that the reflection is too close to the bottom at all. In fact, to put more space between the reflection and the bottom would require backing off of the subject in order to keep the same aspect ratio....that would take away from the photo because the balance of color contrast (mostly provided by the boat) would be reduced. This is an awesome shot in every way.

First off let me say that I think this picture is artistically and technically flawless and certainly better then some of the waterdrop pictures here in the top rating pictures. Here's hoping you will rise in the rankings. Beautiful, wow, inspiring, incredible. I think I have my fifteen words now.
I think however it is a pitty that not the whole tree is shown as reflection. That the hills provide no contrast with the smaller trees. That there is not enough room between the reflection of the boat and the bottom of the picture. But I am not going to subtract any thumbs for that as long as I see other pictures getting ridiculous ratings here!

WOW, a few things pop out at me: the quality of the light, the color of the boat, the stillness of the water (it looks like some of it is starting to freeze), and of course the trees. The trees really are what make this photo work.

Quite good capture. The contrast btw warm hue of the boat and icy cold blue of the lake creates a nice synnergy. The composition is especially strenghten by the positions of the trees. I think it could be better with a little lower brightness, since it may add to the level of solitude. In overall, Very nice.

I'd like it better if it wasn't for the jagged edges on the boat, Also the upper tree branches in the foreground tree have a strange grainy effect happening. (Must be something you did in the post production or it's the compression of the photo that's causing an adverse effect).

The ability to "see" is a gift, and you it is demonstrated here. If I wanted any change it would be a minor lower angle to raise the intersetion of the branches and trunk highter. GREAT WORK !!

I looked at the "wide" version and certainly perfer this. The water is so still creating lovely reflections. It's so good it makes one wonder if it's photoshopped. :-)
I do find that stick bottom-left somewhat distracting, but it doesn't affect the overall quality of the photo.
Would like to see the sky somewhat more saturated.
Like many photos here it gives me something to aim toward.

very nice photo. I like the colours and the reflexion of the boat in the water. It's as if nobody has ever been there (but how did the boat get there?) maybe if it was a little darker, the photo would be even better.

I would have been pleased to have taken this photo - but I would never expect to get over 1,000 points for it. It is just another boat on a still lake photo, and it is nowhere near the best of that genre.

Since my one-word critique of 'Fascinating' seemed to be drawing so much ire, let me eloborate on this much-commented-on photo. I find the image as a whole interesting because we're clearly looking at a boat tethered in a drown stand of trees, and I'd love an explanation or to learn the circumstances. Also, the colour of the boat nicely contrasts that of the sky.
However, I find the image somewhat damaged, possibly from JPEG compression. Also, compositionally I think the bolls of the trees should have been separated from the horizon/shoreline.

I think this piece would be stronger if you cropped it at the height of the highest mountain in the background. it would feel more intimate that way -- and the sky feels a little too light to add to the image. Overall great shot, though. Nice work.

Take the boat out of this photo and what do you have? A very nice photo, that's all. The boat really makes this photo special...the angle...the lighting...the depth. Imagine this photo with a really beautiful sky....now that's a highly rated photo. This photo is somewhat over rated.
