This is a shot of my niece. It is taken on Provia but scanned down (almost) to B&W. Normally I do this sort of stuff on Tech Pan, but this is a bit of an experiment. See comments on Richard Slomka id=99, which cite my Tech Pan technique!

[update: 2002/10/27] I like the photo but I find the background has an artificial feel to it; I don't know whether it's the grades or the halo effect. I imagine you've achieved an effect you were aiming for, but I find it at odds with the excellent skin tones of the subject herself.

Very nice. Willis, if this were a guy, all these people wouldn't have looked at it in the first place.

I'd reverse the hands such that the back one was atop the front to minimize their presence in the image ... nyce shot

Awsome studio portrait. Your niece is a cutie too. She'll be a heartbreaker.

Technically an excellent portrait. For three thumbs I would want the photo to tell me a little about her - the making of great portraiture as Cartier-Bresson could do.

I don't think this photo could get any better. Wonderful expression, lighting, pose and color. Thank-you.

Hmm, beautiful picture. Can't find much wrong with it! The glow behind the model is nice; I'd like to know if it was part of the original scene or if you did it later in Photoshop (by darkening the sides).

If this was a guy, by the way, it would be a different story. This pose for guys is called "the fig leaf." It works for this photo, though.

The lighting and color are just dead on. The pose is very natural as well. And of course, you chose a beautiful model which never hurts! I particularly like how there is a glow behind her. From what I see it almost wraps around the edge of her body perfectly. Beautiful shot.
