hahaha this has to be my favorite of all the photos i have yet to see on this site. You capture the speed, strength, and ferociousness of the model its awesome. It almost kinda looks like his leg has just exploded and hes in alot of pain

Great Shot, The pieces of watermelon actually feel like they are moving everytime I move my eyes! The facial expression is very interesting as well.
I would like to see more of the leg though, perhaps a somewhat lighter backdrop?

What a great shot. Although, I am guessing that you wanted to display the movement of the watermelon being that you had the shutter speed at 1/100 instead of capturing everything still, which would have also been very cool to see, at a much higher shutter speed. Great job though.

Near perfect but some flaws. I love the shot but the two areas that negatively affect it are: 1) The DKNY, 2) the lack of sharpness caused by motion...

A spectacular shot. The most striking feature is the contrast between the sharp crisp focus of the subject's back compared to the violent explosion of the watermelon. It is funny you mentioned the tracksuit label, because it is the only detractor -- hardly something you could avoid though. Well done.

Shutterspeed, diaphragm and timing are very good.
Very strong expression on the models face, you caught that superb.
I am not sure, but maybe you could get even a tiny bit more tension in the image by printing it slightly more tilted so that the leg forms a little more a diagonal line (if possible).
I like this picture very much, how many shots have you made before you had such a nice one?

it is a pity that his hair blends a bit too much against the black background, but, I reckon there was no way to control that.
the amount of energy that the photo has is absolutely fantastic, with just the perfect shutter speed.
The only two things I really don't appreciate much are the pants, with the oversize logo wich distracts from the main "subject", and the way his hand seems out of place. But there is nothing to be done, at least to the hand.
Well done, a great photo.

A great action shot! Perfect timing. Originally, I assume the shutter speed would be a slow enough to show the "explosion" of the watermelon. But in terms of the photographer, it was set at 1/100 sec. That really tells me a lot: the speed of watermelon bits and pieces is a lot of faster than I thought. Also, maybe the setting of 1/100 sec is high enough to "freeze" the Gongfu expert's movement. Anyway, it is an absolutely artistically and technically flawless picture. The clarity, the color, the contrast and the lighting are just right.
Only one little thing, I wonder if it can be cropped a bit toward left.

What a hot, exciting, explosive picture of a very hot, very exciting man beautifully photographed at just the right moment in just the right light! His facial expression is priceless and I can definitely hear him. There is no quesiton that his physique reminds me of Bruce (whom I deeply miss).

I probably would have used a much faster shutter speed but then I would have missed the interesting traces of melon that really give this shot a sense of speed and power.

Being myself a martial artist and a passionate photographer I find this picture just amazing, really a great shot. An extra might have been to shoot it portraid and include the kicker's other foot and leg.

The first I thought of.. "how many watermelons did he have to kick before the photographer would be satisfied"... if this was the only shot, then I must say, you got that timing exactly right! A bit more melon on the left would've been great in this picture though. Good color, nice and clean background, where was this image shot? In a studio? This is so good that I'd like to buy this and have it hanging on a wall.

Great shot, and noteworthy technical details. I would have tried to shoot this at the fastest possible shutter speed - and, as it seems, missed all the motion blurr in the melon pieces, which really makes this picture.
Is it really just 1/100s? That seems so slow!

Cool! the shot captures the agression on the face of the martial arts expert and the exploding watermelon conveys the speed and force of the attack. Contrast of the red of the smashed watermelon against the black background shows up the detail in a most striking fashion!
I would've saved the DKNY for a better occasion though... (laughs)

I would agree with everyone's comments, definitely outstanding, a cross between David Letterman and Harold Edgerton. Harold Edgerton for those who don't know was a scientist who pioneered stop-action photography, bullet in mid-air and so forth. His work sells for many thousands as fine-art although it was made as science.A take-off on his work would make a nice series.
If the logo is a problem why not take it out?

Good shoot - well done. As presented it is very good. But it has the potential to better. A crop of about 1/4 of the top would refocus on the guy and the exploding out melon right now it is a little like 2 subjects - the kicker and the melon.
