This was taken at the end of a pier in Blackpool. I sat ages waiting for people to move out of where I wanted to shoot. I took a couple of reading using a hand held meter for if I wanted detail in the subject. I already had the idea of a silhouette in mind and just upped the shutter speed. When shooting in the sun I had my hand over the top of the lens to cut down on any possible flare. On the print the timbers have taken on a warmish feel which had a lot of options for more photographs. Also the horizon is dead level on the print which it is leaning a little here when it was scanned. One good reason I like this image is that it would well have been taken during the day or night.

Very Pleasing photograph. Can imagine coldness and anticipation of the catch. Chuck Freeman

A fine shot that certainly grabs you and takes you into the seaside mode. I sympathize with your comments on having to wait till other fishermen and onlookers cleared out. Your patience paid off.

I like it. I feel the warmth of the sun. I like the silhouitte look of it. I know the subject and you have put him a in an appriate theme supported well by the water, the boat and the fishing rods. Good Job.
