"Painting with enemas". Here you can see Lucy filling herself up with warm water & yellow food colouring.

Never use more than 2 pints of water & make sure it's at body temperature. The next 2 photos will be more interesting, bit more graphic.

Point of observation, isn't it strange that any photo with "Ross McKinnon" on it gets viewed lots but no comments, why are you people so scared of critiquing my work? I always return my critiques as well. Regards, Ross.

Note for Laura Spell:"serious psychological disorder", so that's why so many film stars have irrigation & so many Health Clinics offer it, thanks for telling me.

You definitely push the envelope. I admire your ability to take a controversial subject and execute it so flawlessly it requires the title for people to get upset about it. Without the title, you might have had everyone appreciating the rich colors and her mischievious grin.

This utterly cracks me up. I can't add anything else to the discussion, because you've actually gotten a lot of interesting comments. May I send a copy of No.2 to some friends? You just may get a RossMcKinnon Fan Club here in Detroit, USA.

OMG!!! 3 for your bravery. it just doesn't seem right to comment of the technical side of this picture :) (which, for the record, seems pretty spot on).

I was fine with this shot until I read what she was doing, and that she was doing it to herself.

But as far as the photo goes without considering the rest, The sparkley blue back ground is distracting. Why not use one of the paintings she has made as a background?

As far as Scottland is concerned, (I came here from reading your post in the forum section) It's a beautiful country, that I would love to make a trip to.

Ross, I've looked at this and your later shot. The later one isn't to my taste but hey, it's your shot and your expression. This one is a winner for me though. The expression you've captured on your model is simply perfect. It has mischeivous expectation at it's core, and tells a huge story, or at least can be interpreted in so many different ways; that part is for me, outstanding. At the second level, her pouring the fluid in the funnel is great, as again, it tells me exactly what is going on, even if it grosses me out a bit :-) I was perhaps under the mistaken impression that one "filled oneself up" whilst lying down, but having no personal experience in this area, I've no idea! I think lighting, composition and other techs are great. The only thing I have a slight problem with is the background - I like the blue sparkly stuff - it brings it out of context, and makes it clearly non-medical, but I don't like the discontinuity at the left, which just makes me think it's a studio set up oversight (I'm sure it's not, that's just what it makes me think). I'm not going to knock more than a 0.25 thumb off though, simply because of the expression you've captured and the story that the image tells. This is a fun shot - sexy/kinky/mischeivous yes, but fun and makes me smile. Simon

Well, Ross, I don't see too many critiques here without a comment. I like this shot, and to me it looks like she's having a good time. Really like your comment about "green skies..." and totally agree. Photography is very subjective, and luckily so for us who make a living taking pictures. Keep up the great work!

Ross, it may surprise you to know that I do coffee enemas all the time for health maintenance reasons. They are a powerful tool to detoxify the liver. When the caffeine is absorbed through the colon, it goes directly to the liver/gall bladder area, which is stimulated and encouraged to release long stored toxins. The process also cleanses the colon, but it's really more for the liver.

The procedure was discovered by accident by doctors during WWI, before they had antibiotics. They would give badly wounded soldiers opium rectally for the pain. The solution was coffee colored. When they ran out of opium, they gave folks coffee as a substitute because of the similar color. To their amazement, those getting the coffee enemas recovered at a much higher rate, particularly those with infected wounds.

Today, the drug-dependent medical profession has forgotten the procedure or labeled it quackery. But if you look it up any old medical book, you will find it there along with the medical explanation for how and why it works!

BTW, I like your photo. Actually, I'm a bit biased and enjoy any photo with Lucy in it.

OK Ross, I'll comment. Your photos are a little extreme for me. I'm a pretty liberal guy but... You are lucky that you earn your living do what you love, but perhaps photos such as this should be reserved for your customers. You asked for comments.

As a photo - well framed. Good background colors and overall pretty good. Of course it is the story that makes the shot interesting. Without the story she is just another woman pouring liquid into a funnel. The reds and greens work well together.

Life if full of different people with different tastes. I appreciate it when people can share these. Just ignore the scardy-cats Ross.

Best Regards

Hi Ross, give you a 2 for this. Technically the photo is OK. It has decent sharpness, color and composition. For me the problem is that the lady looks like a harried housewife. If she was one of your hot models, I think it would be a 3TU. Regards, Bob

Turning the lights down low looking side to side to see if anyone is looking. shaking finger head toward the key board no not scared here lol. I like your shot Ross the focus is really nice and from the look on her face she enjoys her work. The pic is nice and sharp But IMO the background is just a liitle to much. It would have been nice to be able to make out the necklace or to have done away with it. Just thinking to myself with the way you are leading us to believe in the series to come you are going to shake alot of feathers around here LMAO FILTERS FILTERS FILTERS I hear the echos now. Great shot friend

Technically the shot is good, color, light and details. To answer your question, it might have something to do with the controverial content in your work. Take this shot for example, seems to make light of a serious psychological disorder.................................... Addendum: 3:34 pm. Your explanation is appreciated, but... the fact that film stars starve and purge themselves in pursuit of 'the beautiful body' does not make this an attractive photo! lol Personally I am fat and flabby, love chocolate too much to torture my self!

I am going to give it the old collage try. First I have to say that Luke has said a lot of good points in his critique. From a technical standpoint I feel you have done a good job with the photo. Her face may be a bit soft but that is not really an issue with me. The clarity of the photo is great. I like the look of her fingernail of all things. Nice little shine on the center of it. That looks good to me. I don’t mind the choker she is wearing because I think we can assume that this is not a hospital like setting or at least anyone that I have ever been in. The colored liquid pouring out of the container and in the tube looks great. The color of it in the container looks a bit like blood. The background for me works because it gives me the feeling that this woman is behind a screen in some sex shop or something. Your lighting was done quite well and the skin tones look nice. On a personally level it kind of gives me the creeps but that is good because you have achieved a successful photo. You provoked a feeling out of people and isn't that what artists and their likes strive to create. Whether it is a positive or negative feeling just the fact that someone comes away from viewing your work with a certain sense is success in my book. And I just had to include this could not help myself. This is just a pain in the ass (I assume). Good work and creativity.

ok ross i will critique it. color clarity contrast all perfect right down to the 2 drops on the side of the funnel. the backdrop if looking on the left it changes why? the expression on the models face is great as if she is getting ready to do something kinky (you naughty boy)looking forward to the rest of the series (i think)

OK Ross, I'll have a go;-)
Firstly, the foreground objects are nice and sharp, focus there is good. Exposure is good too, no blown whites and the tiniest bit of detail in the blacks of her hair near her neck. Color rendition is fine, no oversaturation!

Personally, I like her expression, seems slightly amused to me, touch of a smirk, like it's all a bit of a joke. Not sure that it fits in with the theme though. Are enemas supposed to be amusing ?

Depth of field is a little to small for my liking, her face is not quite sharp enough or not quite blurred anough. It's caught between being completely out of focus and very sharp. Personally, I'd go with a smaller aperture to get her face nice and sharp as well. Lighing seems good if a litle boring. Background...not too good. That reflective sparkly material draws my attention away.

What does it make me feel? Well I don't necessarily get the 'enema feeling'. While hardly my area of expertise, I'd expect a bit more of an S&M feel, dark, harsh shadows, more low key. Of course you could be going for a more, brightly lit, hospital type of feel, and it's a lot closer to that, lighting in that case fits better...maybe make her look more like a nurse (a hat?, button up the blouse a little, get rid of the chocker, add a stethoscope perhaps? to cliched?)...make the background look more like a hospital drop sheet thingy...The more I type the more contradictions I seem to have in my head, maybe some more environment to give the viewer more idea of what is going on. Is it for fun? For sex (not that sex isn't fun)? Do the participants enjoy the clinical feel? I'm really not sure, I'm left wanting to know more. Maybe that's a good thing but I feel that there's something missing here to add a little more to the story or clarify a bit more.

OK, final thing to add, after some more thinking:
I've left my earlier comments to give you some idea of my thought process

I think you are going for the amused look and the clinical feel here. It works. Tidy up the background, get rid of the choker, larger depth of field. Could've said that in the beginning I guess!

Well the photo is nicely taken. Sharp and in focus. Perhaps it is not critiqued because people don't find the subject interesting? I dunno...lol. But for me it is interesting for me to look at. I don't know about what is about to come up in this series...but for now it is ok. Oh yea, I'd prefer if the bottom left corner didn't have that blue thing there. I prefer a consistent background.
