If in fact this is a photograph, i.e. a record of light shining onto a surface, which I doubt it is, then the only interesting thing about it is how such a saturated blue was achieved against a perfectly black background.
If, as I suspect, it's a Photoshop or some drawing program scrawl, then it takes even less talent. Either way, it's not much to look at.

Some of these people need to stop being so negative. It's abstract, so what? I love it!

Lol, Im gonna stop takin photos and get my crayons out too! Surly someone moderates the photos sent into photoSig? If not i think there needs to be, this is one of a few "Artists?" that use this site as a sounding board which is y i usually say nothin. Above is (just) better than my 2 year old can do with a mouse on mspaint, any moderators, or admin gonna take a stand, or do we just wade through dross now?
Just my opinion :)

Wow! People are still jumping on this after more than three years. You've achieved something. It looks to me that all of our judgments here are made on assumptions. Some assume it was made totally in Photoshop. It's just as reasonable to assume that it was painted with light in front an open camera lens. Not knowing which, but knowing that Jette works with photos, and submitted this as a photo, the balance of the scant evidence indicates that it is a photo. From there, it all gets subjective. My subjective opinion as an artist is that it is an interesting form, with both discipline and freedom. That doesn't mean it's my favorite kind of art. But the cutting edge of critically acclaimed art photography embraces works I like even less. And, if they saw that, the negative critics here would swallow their tongues! :-)

Simple and effective- i would love to know more details of this shot. I would have no problems hanging this on my wall. It has a certain 70's feel to it.

I see a lot of these pictures from my children. I have in most cases to say "nice".
Sometimes my son tells me what he wanted to do whith all this lines and poppy colours. Than i can understand that it is only technical limited.
This picture is not sharp, not interesting and i can not jump in the spiral, because it is in my vie very unstructured.
I don't like it.

Yeah, this "photo" pretty much totally sucks. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate some intersting, simple, modern stuff, but this doesn't even come close to qualifying. Try putting down the etch-a-sketch, and picking up a camera.

this is boring to look at, i think. maybe the process of making it was more interesting than the result itself. isn't this just a jumble of blue lines without context or flow? the title "abstraction" certainly doesn't provide much insight.

though this sounds insulting, it really is - to me. this has got to be one of the silliest things i've seen you post up here. it's not even a scan of your paintings. it's a scribble done in paint. it doesn't offend, who could hate blue? but sorry - perhaps it would be nicer if you photograph something in real life, something abstract and post that. i can scan in a scribble. heck, i can scribble in photoshop and upload that. show us the talent!

I think I did this once...it's called physiographs., right? I'm guessing you used a hanging flashlight, colored gel and setting on bulb with a timed exposure. Email me and tell me if I'm 'warm'. Actually, you did a good job to get this much 'design' to it.

Comments are different from critiques. Comments carry no rating, you may write more than one comment per photo, and you may comment on your own photos. If you want to rate this photo, then you should write a critique instead.

Amazing! And I am not referring to the photo or the subject, it is to the optically challanged "group" who give this drivel credit. Why don't I just get out the airbrush tool and scribble some crap on a black background, why actually look for something incrdible in the world to shoot when you can scribble on a kids toy. For all the disparaging comments I see from the "experts" here on some photos that actually deserve accolades, they instead give them to this "photo".
Perhaps these same folks would buy the contents of my trash can if I call it art too.

Come on, man! The content of the trash can, that's an old one. Fernandez Arman did that in 1960. Neo-dada, for your information. You can view it in the Kaiser Wilhem Museum in Krefeld if you want. This piece looks more like abstract impressionism to me.
