Your composition looks pretty strong but can be stronger if the photo is of portrait(vertical) composition, it would also be enhanced further if the curve at the left is not broken and falls out of the frame. The bright line alone the conjunction of the sand and water looks fine but the foam is too bright and overpowering.

I really like the different textures in this image. The color combination is also pleasing. The lighting effect is good except for the foam, which IMO looks too bright. Perhaps some selective darkening would help and increase the impact. Nick

Not a bad try with this one. I like the shooting angle and curves in this one. Though I think the lightning is bit too harsh and also I would have liked to see the whole curved line on the left side. The crop is just too tight. Cheers, R.

does the beach really slope that steeply?

Louis, the beach does not slope as much as this perspective shows. I took several photos of these lines, the beach, the silver edge of where the receding water meets the beach and the line of foam because I liked the way those lines led off into the distance. I ended up cropping it closer than I should have as I see now that I broke one of those lines, the silver, on the far left, which does leave this lacking. I appreciate all the comments and critiques and I am going to revisit the editing on this one as all of the critiques are very helpful.
