beautiful detail on the eye and the head feathers. Not sure of your settings but the slightly OOF end of beak could be due to slow shutter speed. I think the photo is cropped a bit too tightly on the bottom. Is that hole in the log used to put in food? if so you may want to shoot at a lower angle so this can't be seen. It could be my monitor but I think you could brighten the image a little

Nice picture! Good light, beautiful colors and a complementary background. Pity that the focus for the beautiful bird is only partial.Thank you for sharing.Ernestina

I like this bird pose and the angle you took the photo to it Luca, the bird head is focused sharply and the light is favouring to your shot. Bird beak is a bit soft and the feather starts to get blurr from the chest, I believe that a higher aperture can certainly help to make the shot more appeal.
Cheers..........Edwin

I Luca - Great capture. I really like this photo. Composition & DoF are spot on. As mentioned previously, the focus seema a bit soft, but you can still see some detail on the front feathers. The colors are very natural, the BG color makes the bird pop. nIce effort, keep'em coming. Blessings, Sonja

Nice shot Luca, good DOF and fine composition, however it is not sharp enough IMO. Just the eye part is sharp, say, DOF is too much shallow. Background blur is gained easier, but subject may partially get OOF. Cheers, Mehrdad

I have to disagree with the other comments. I like how the eye is the sharpest spot and it blurs as the our eyes go into the back ground.

If you are baiting a bird for a photo it is generally best to avoid the point of bait being obvious. As long as the head and eye is fully shgarp the rest of the bird in soft focus is not an issue.
