I originally set out to capture a sunset at the beach. Looking for a different point of view, I got onto my stomach in the sand for a unique persepective. Its a small rock, the size of your fist. With the rolling low tide, some birds nearby and the sun setting.. I thought It created an abstract landscape.

Hi W, nice shot. Colors are very nice and effect of refection is good. The horizon is curved for a lens distortion effect. I think that sun is too centered. The foreground element is good. Thanks for sharing, Claudio

Great demonstration of "forced perspective". I also like the toning.almost perfect except for the horizon and green in the sun. nice work!

Very nice image and you had me fooled about the size of the rock. You did a great job of getting the perspective. The role of the sun in the image seems to be to complement the rock and not be the subject by itself. That said maybe to frame or crop it a bit tighter to minimize the sun but keep that wonderful light effect across the beach and minimize the flare at the bottom of the image. What I find when photographing a scene with the sun is that a very slight movement left/right/up/down will give a different and even dramatic effect of the rays and the reflections. Also, a polarizing filter will give some interesting effects. I do also notice that the horizon is a bit off. I hope you did not get too wet taking this one but it was probably worth it to get the shot. Regards, Ted

Thanks for the nice tipsTed! I will try the slight movements and see what I can produce. I'm curious to try a time lapse with some nd filters...I'm sure a polarizer will add some nice effects! Thanks for the ideas!

Very nice Landscape photo, Warm colors, sharp and clear. Very nice composition. Such a photo should decorate walls and I think that a nice frame might even add a bit more. Thanks, Yechiel

Thanks for the nice words! Very encouraging for me. I printed it out 11 x 17 print last night with a white border. I think it will look great framed, like you suggest. Thanks again for the comments!

I agree with you about the rays. I was very happy I was able to capture some in this image. When I got home and started looking at the images, I kick myself for not composing better.. getting more sky into some of the images. Oh well, always the next day! Thanks for the kind words!
