You have obviously taken several shots of this very interesting flower, this is improved version ,however i think you may have just missed out by not incorporation the curled up end of the plant which I liked very much

I love the flow - from the top to the turnabout at the flowers and then towards the lower right corner. The white OOF object provides minor distraction - if it just was a little bit less bright and eye-drawing... The comp does feel little centered and static - cropping from top has already been mentioned, but try also the bottom and the left (all individually, not together).

Hi Nicholas I do like this one more than the two earlier posts. While the quality of the capture in all of them is good, what makes me prefer this is the composition. I like the two implied diagonals, the soft bokeh (I have no objection to the white blur in the BG) and the simplicity of the single open and focused blosssom. I think, as suggested by an earlier critique, that I would also prefer a small crop from the top - it seems to emphasise the dominant flower. Regards, Steve

Thanks Steve. As you can tell I have been experimenting with different ways to compose shots of these little flowers and wanted to post for feedback. I appreciate you comparing the three and telling me why you like this one.

Beautiful. However, the composition would be improved by cropping the top portion of the frame so as not to put the flower in the center.

Some critics would comment in the negative about the Oof white element. I like it, but would have placed it more centrally under the arch of the flower stem?

Thank you all for the critiques, comments and suggestions (on all three shots). It's been a good learning exercise trying to photograph these interesting, little wildflowers and composing the frames. I wanted your feedback on what worked and didn't and I appreciate you taking the time to look and passing along your thoughts. Cheers, Nick
