Lovely blurred image almost as if through the eyes of a creature. Band of mist in the middle/far distance. Would have loved to have been there and experienced it.

It looks like a big "painting piece" of art. I don't want to repeate what have been said but, the oil brushes as you say, are clearly visible also at this small size. You should pay attention to correct them before you print a large canvas, or they might appear really evident. Just my opinion, ciao Lois! Carlo.

Hi Lois. Beautiful, like an oil painting. I especially enjoy the blocky effect of the foliage as if were daubed by brush with oil paint by an impassioned artist on canvas.. devoid of fine detail yet singing with an overall impression of gentle breeze, movement and misty atmosphere. The colours are soft, the palette cohesive and the composition spot on. Muted, quiet and evocative...you have captured a certain mood of the English countryside that works for me on every level.

Thanks for your thoughtful critique Cathy, which sums up in a few words all I was trying to achieve - glad it conveyed so well to you!

the composition is pretty and the effect done on it makes it dreamy and soft, with a hair texture to it, it looks nice on the overall elements, but I do wish the textures would be smaller on the tree leaves, as it is they are too large and kind of look strange...

Thanks Jacline - I think I need to do some more work on refining which parts have which texture.

Hello Lois...your thoughtful composed manipulated image has a gentle English countryside feel to it...Thomas Hardy inspired perhaps? I really like the placement of the tree and the fine work that you have done on it and the surrounding hillside. Also the lines of mist rolling over the patchwork foreground is very pleasing. What I think needs some help is the fairly large blank upper left which looks just a little too washed out and a little too empty. Would it be possible to create more contrast or detail there? Anyway Lois you obviously have skill with this type of manipulation and there is genuine care and enjoyment present in your work here. Thanks for posting this....well done!

Many thanks Lorne for your thoughts - it was quite a misty day with high cloud - but I may be able to do more contrast adjustment to bring out some texture I think. The technique hides a multitude of sins as I said to Jeff, so I should be able to add more detail without it looking too obvious.

I like your idea here. Its a dreamy, calm, relaxing work. Maybe a little part (the tree?) of the photo should have a little bit less PS softening. Anyway, nice work, congrats. PeterA

Thanks Peter - the softening is a side effect of the brushes used, so as I said to Fred, I need to work on this.

A serene and pastoral scene, a composition that is according to certain conventions, and subdued and mild colours. So everything had been well and fine in my eyes, if it hadn`t been for what I feel is an excessive softening. A tiny bit, perhaps, but this is too much. But nice in many respects...
regards, fred

Thanks Fred - I think I need to experiment more with the brush settings?

Works for me! A nice, peaceful scene here. I like the post work you did but I'm thinking you need some detail(?) in the brown strip in the lower third of the frame. Other than that, this would probably look pretty cool on canvas.

Thanks Jeff. It was quite hazy that day, so most of the detail in the distance was not that clear. However, CP does have the facility to restore detail to the image so when I go for this, I may do some local adjustments as you suggest. The beauty of this is that one can hack the original fairly ruthlessly then hide the cracks with the painting effect! (Like a crummy decorator...)

Good points! Now that I think about it, that would probably work out just fine. Still combing my archives for a picture to abuse. Not that I don't have a bunch of abused pictures already but most are abused in camera.....
