Nice shot Nicholas. The sharpness in the birds feathers, was that achieved in post edit or off the camera? It seems a little strong. The lighting looks good and the composition is also good. Nice uncluttered background. Overall decent shot. I see these guys around my place all of the time.

Thanks Aaron. The image was pretty sharp out of the camera, but I added a fair amount in processing and wondered whether I over did it some. Do you know what this bird is- I couldn't ID it. Nick

Yea I do have the birds ID on my other computer but can't remember what it was. I will check it when I get home and let you know. I thought that was the case with the sharping. It looked like the image was originally a sharp image. I typically avoid sharping my photos except after reducing the size and even then it's minimal. Sharping via post edit will never be a replacement for optically sharp photos and in a lot of cases it makes a photo look like a drawing. There are other ways to sharpen photos with blurry edges but they are labor and time intensive and how you go about it varies with every photo. In the case of your photo the original was probably plenty sharp to start with I suspect.

Nice picture Nicholas! Good light, a perfect sharpness throughout the bird's body, pleasant colors. Only slightly more blurred background would help composition. Thank you for sharing.Ernestina
