Good find, the pattern on the door is interesting indeed, and the colors are beautiful. But, for this kind of picture, I think you should make sure that the lines of the subject align perfectly well with the border of the frame. Currently, some lines are not parallel (perhaps due to lens distortion, which you can correct). I would also suggect to crop to a square format, dropping the left part and focussing on the symmetry of the checker pattern.
