I am sure it won't be to everyone's taste, but I sorta love high contrast monos...

Excellent picture in HDR style and stylization under an infra-red picture. Yours faithfully, Alex.

Beautiful photo, straight from yesteryear. Exposure, contrast and sharpness all flawles. I would crop a bit of the dark side of the street on the left away (maybe only the 1st building). The sky (almost like an infrared shot)is a great contributor to the overall effect.

The high constract works not bad, with an essential of sharpness. The picture just looks like an illustration of storybook or textbook. Nice composition too. A tasteful work anyway.

HDR I presume ? If not, an excellent imitation ! Whatever the reason, I love this effect, like a movie from the 1940's. Excellent composition, too ... but too many people for my taste ...

thanks Jean-Pierre... no, not HDR, just a lot of pushing and pulling :) Totally agree about the people, but it's hard to get this place empty. Unfortunately I only had one day there which didn't include early morning, when I would normally be out.
