The key point gains smart focus on. However, it is a bit too center to my eye. I would prefer more space be extended to the left. I don't mind those small shell-looking "pellets" on the beach, however, it may be also helpful to stand out the snowy egret if darken slightly the background by increasing the contrast. Nice job anyway.

I shoot these birds all of the time and I know they are not easy to get right. It looks like you did a pretty fair job at getting the exposer right on this one. Thats half of the battle. The other half is getting these birds to stick around long enough to get a few shots. It looks like you where shooting from a high vantage point and that puts a lot of the ground in the shot and in this case the ground isn't helping. What are those things anyways? Acorns maybe?

Thanks for the critique Aaron. The vantage point is an elevated bank above the lagoon. The egret was walking at low tide in an area normally under water when the tide is in. The objects are either pebbles or small shells best I can tell. If you are going to photograph these beautiful birds in the wild, this is where you find them. Nick

I'd give you 3TU's for the egret (?). Great focus and exposure. But the dotted stuff (looks like geese droppings) is not too appealing.
