Hi Dave..very good detail on the bird. Also the composition is well focused and smoothly textured. The lighting is somewhat strong...perhaps a polarizer would help with the bright and contrasty background. The wet green kelp at the bird's feet does not add to the scene but then again it is an outdoor nature image so these type of things do come with the territory. Nice work.

Good sharpness and clarity, a very well close-up to the sandpiper indeed. Both the background and the foreground may be a bit flat and pale. Slightly increase the contrast should be helpful to the bird standing out itself.

Very good crisp sharpness on the bird.

But the sun is too high, too hot. The image is over exposed. The slimy seaweed is not too appealing to me.

The shot of the sandpiper is well composed and the details on the bird are good. I also like the catch-light in the eye. The lighting is pretty harsh though and taken together with the greenish substance at the birds feet diminishes the impact of the shot for me some. There is also what looks like a smudge in front of the bird's right leg that can be easily removed in PS. TFS, Nick
