Thumb-down    from thewilkinsdistinctio/Ben (713) Send mail to this user on May 20, 2012 4:51:04 PM CDT (1) Early critique

I struggle a little here to give my critique because I know what it is like to get a bad critique, but this is how we can improve our skills and become better photographers, and believe me, I have a long way to go. You have good subject matter in this image, but, unfortunately there are quite a few technical flaws that are preventing it from being a great photo. First, I would eliminate the filter and allow the natural colours paint this picture. This would also aid in brightening the beautiful building that isn't getting the credit it deserves. Second, try cropping a big section of the right hand side. I would suggest between the two boats just before the last palm tree. This will eliminate a lot of the 'uninteresting' (for lack of a better word) part of the image and again bring more focus to the building. Third, try to focus on your sharpness a little more. This alone can improve an image quite a bit. Make sure your lens is clean and try using a tripod even for faster shutter speeds. Again, don't let this critique discourage you. You know where the photos are and you can see them. Now the challenge is to get them on the screen. Good luck. Welcome to Photosig and I hope to see more of your work. Ben
