This particularly focused rhesus monkey was scoping out one poor tourist's cone of chilli rice. Not to eat, but to smack it out of their hands and run away. I got loads of shots of monkey's doing all sorts of profane acts, but this is my favourite. Taken at Swayambhunath temple, Kathmandu, Nepal.

I love the sharpness in the eyes... very piercing! I'd be curious to see what this would like in B&W. I think it might look pretty interesting, given the texture of the monkey's fur. Great capture, Jethro.

B&W is interesting in this case, the fur looks great, but you lose the colour in the eyes which, for me, took away a lot of the expressiveness. I might try a closer B&W crop. Thank you very much indeed for the kind comment.

I agree that the dark patch needs to be cropped. Apart from that, a really great expression on the monkey and nice and sharp too.

Thanks for the comment! Agreed about the dark patch (railing), unfortunately it's that or lose too much monkey. Best of less than optimal situation.

Love the expression, but the dark object on the top right is really distracting. The composition leaves too much empty space on the right side in my opinion.

The dark object (railing) is unfortunate. I experimented with cropping it, but lost too much monkey head for my liking. Interesting about the space on the right, I'll revisit and see if it benefits shifting a little. Thanks for the critique!
