I am working with Apeture Priority mode to better understand DOF and how to apply it correctly.

Thumb-down    from edwin/Edwin K.W. (223,929) Send mail to this user on May 5, 2012 1:31:03 PM CDT (1) Early critique

Not a bad try Bob, the DOF is working out fine for me but focus on the subject a (bee?) doesn't look sharp. The subject is way too small and there is far too much excessive emptied space around it, you haven't listed out the lens you used but I would suggest to use a macro lens to take the shot to the subject at a closer distant.

Sorry for my thumb down and please don't take it to be offensive.

Cheers........Edwin

Thanks for the critique Edwin. I do not take offense to your suggestions. I thank you for them. Art is in the eye of the beholder and I did ask for critiques. Sorry for not showing the lense info especially because of the lense I used for this photo. I was using a telephoto lense extended out to 200mm. I could have switched to my macro lense but I was experimenting with my telephoto and depth of field. I will crop it and try again. As for the focus, it lost something in the conversion from RAW to JPEG. It is much more clear in RAW. Thanks for your critique.
