I like the timing of the shot. It makes for an interesting photo. The lighting is well controlled as well. I think that a shallower DOF would have off set the bird much better than burning in a vignetting effect. I would remove it if it where me. Maybe substitute it for a blur.

The burn effect is quite moderate on the larger picture. Somehow, the thumbnail shows a much exaggerated effect. Blur and burning are not quite the same.

An excellent portrait of the bird and good timing. Agree the vignetting is effective but maybe too pronounced on the sides between the corners.

I like the composition of this photo. Slightly off-center is a good look. However, there seems to either be some unnatural vignetting or some uneven brightening/darkening of this photo that doesn't seem necessary. It's distracting as it was the first thing that caught my eye. Almost looks like a halo-effect around the bird.

The vignetting you mentioned is the equivalence of burning, which is a very common technique to direct viewer's eyes to the subject. You should experiment with the concept with your photography.

Hi, Alex. You demostrated sharp vision in seeing this bird. Your photo is nicely composed, and the pose is intriguing. Your good exposure brings out the texture of the birds feathers--I can feel the texture. Well done!
