This abandoned house has the same treatment as the previous Cabin of Mystery images. Shot 3 images at different exposures in late afternoon (this case) or early morning spring sun. All of these were taken on cheerful sunny days, before the leaves covered over the buildings. Created as realistic looking an image as possible, using Photomatix, and then use LR4 to manipulate tonality, colors, and midtone contrast and create a feeling of long abandonment--a place once inhabited, but no longer. Arguably, this series is 'over manipulated'. I'm trying to capture something of the feeling or essence of these abandoned buildings. Neither pure B&W nor normal color images seem to do them justice.

Nice photo. The exposure and HDR effects are right on. The only two problems i see are the colors. I just looks too brown. not enough contrast in color, like the green grass or the green on the roof. The other part is the angel. This looks like a flat painting. there if no DOF or dimension. I think if you would have shot the house on one of corners and show the depth between the house and trees.

I understand what you try to do in this photo, and the effect is not so bad. It is a pity that the big tree in the right totally hides the contour of the house. You could get a better image if you change the angle IMO.
