Alex, three TUs for this really great shot. I don't know why everyone wants to see detail in all parts of an image. You have wonderful detail in the part that counts. Your choice of backlighting this shot was absolutely right. Look at the wonderful colour you got in the bill with the light shining through it. Compare that with the rather flat colour in your later submission which if front lit. The backlighting on the white feathers produces some wonderful variation in the white tones that you could never get with front lighting. And you have done a good job bringing out detail in the area around the eyes. Couldn't have done better myself!!
Cheers, Don

Very nice shot Alex. I think the light direction is great. The light hitting the beck from that side has given it a glow. Exposure is spot on but I would look at adding a little more into the eye of the Eagle. Well done. Regards Greg.

I like the shooting angle and the crop for the eagle Alex, but the light was not doing you a good favour that it came from the back of the eagle, detail on the dark feathers are not able to show up in this situation and it also put the hawk face in the shade, you may try photoshop shadow/highlight tool to see if the detail on the shaded area can be resuced.
Cheers......Edwin

Edwin,
I think the problem I have is the white feather on direct sunlight. It is very easy to blow out so I chose this angle instead. I can bring up more of the detail and lightness with curve and it looks a lot better. Thanks for pointing it out.
