A second shot from Derwent Water (also 2 minute exposure). The processing on this one relied heavily on the processing from the shot I uploaded yesterday. I had originally kept far more detail in the background, where I feel this stark rendition gives far more of the feeling at the time.

Beautiful graphics winter sample. Noise, the bottom of the pile, is much too visible. Photo should have a border. White on white does not at all well. Greetings,Stefan

This is great. I love these types of shots. Maybe pull back some to include more of the path leading to the dock. I really need to get the Big Stopper in my kit. Cheers.

Way less impressive than your previous upload in my eyes. I think it's the static composition and the shape that works like a massive visual barrier, a cage for the view what makes the difference.
Regards, U.

No probs Ulrich. Although the shots relate to each other in many ways, they are very different. I see this as a more accessible image, certainly not as dynamic as the first.

Great contrast in the poles. Like the use of ND to turn the water to milk. I like the blurred shadow this has produced to. For me, I would crop off some of the negative white space at the top, but that's me. Really nice processing...

Thanks Gary

I can see what you are coming from. My concern with a crop at the top is that it would make the image very busy - I feel it needs room to breath and give a feeling of space.

a Beautiful view, looks much better, but the contrasts are also a bit high. But here I like it. Good lighting and a nice composition, well seen.

Interesting work, very well done in B&W. White color of background gives a good color contrast here. However some of these poles, especially these poles which are situated on the left side of photo, the vertical (pion) of these poles going a little to the right, I don't know is it intentionally, however similar situation is in cas of this wooden platform, where the level is going a little to the right. Well seen. Regards, Michal.

thanks Michal

I think the photo is level, the far shore is straight, and the poles vary, some lean this way, some lean that way and there are even a few which are vertical. However, I'm at an angle to the landing stage, so it does appear to slope down to the right.

John, Nice use of the 10 stop ND filter. I like the barely visible background---you can just see it through the morning mist/fog. Beautiful! TFS, Bruce

Thanks Bruce - just for the record, this is rain that is making the far shore barely visible!

ah, yes. Now, after reading your comments on your earlier submittal, I understand the conditions this was taken under---impressive. One of the other Crits mentioned the shadows----one of the other elements I love in this image---an image that I would be proud to hang on my wall! Thanks for the add's info.
