A small group of reindeer we came across at an altitude of 1500 meters near the Polar Circle. The blue background is a lake far below

Excellent capture. Interesting to see a close-up of the group and also of a wide angle photo that puts the reindeers in comparison with the surroundings.

Thanks a lot, Nicusor. It was interesting for us as well to see reindeer in these surroundings. They were absolutely aware of our presence, and more than an hour before we reached the top of the mountain one single deer ( a male with big antlers) was running past us, quite near, several times, as if he was on guard. regards, fred

I don't even understand what's happening with the sky in this picture all i know is, that it's amazing. Well done!

Thanks Mian: It`s not the sky you see in the background, it is a mountain lake. But you see the sky ( at least clouds) reflected in it. regards, Fred

This one really caught my attention. I like how you've done this. The blue background is perfect. I think that is a bit out focus. Good work.

Thanks, Guillermo. Yes, I guess the lake is a bit out of focus, resulting from trying to focus on the reindeer combined with large aperture. Still I think it functions ok as a background. regards, fred

Great capture of these Reindeer, Fred, well seen and great find. I understand that you had an opportunity to capture here these Reindeer from a distance. I know that it was your intention to compose this photo as it is, however did really there is a necessary to try to cropp a little bit this image on the both of the sides due to the fact that there are some part of ground or of mountains (or whatever is it) on the both of the sides on the edge of snow and frames?, it is a matter of taste. Eventually I would prefer to try to cropp a little up part of photo, of course if it will be necessary. Regards, Michal.

Thanks, Michal. The photo has already been cropped, but I see I could have removed more to make it look "cleaner". In the original we see the entire lake, as well as much of the land (rocks, moss and grass) on the other side. This was a long walk, we spent 10 hours getting up on a mountain peak and down again. To make my backpack as light as possible, I didn`t bring a telephoto lens, just my 17-70mm. Too bad, but we hadn`t expected to come across reindeer, and least of all on the very top of the mountain. Well, I see what you mean, didn`t notice the green stuff in the lefthand corner until you mentioned it, and it might perhaps be a good idea to remove it. (It,s part of the bank down by the lake) regards, fred
