Striking image, really draw the eye and makes you think about the story behind the shot. The lighting and detail are beautiul. I love the contrast, the expsoure is expertly handled. If you are aiming for another thumb up I would say the only way to improve this would be a lovely big catchlight on the eye and a stronger composition leveraging the negative space and shape a little more.
Excellent work, love it

Excellent post processing of your original street photo, Alex. No, you won't be moving the lighting (the sun--natural lighting)! I like what you have done here. Good sharp focus. This man, with his long, wavy hair, continues to remind me of times gone by---as in General George Custer---or alternatively some other Civil War veteran. It is an interesting face----one that I think I would like to know more about----perhaps that is the attraction to me. Well taken by you and well presented here. I do have one question: Entirely hand held or with a monopole??? Thanks for the work on this---and for sharing it. Bruce

Very nice portrait, very good black background and very good sharpness and details, the only thing here is his dark eye,i think if his eye was a bit lighter it could be much more beautiful,my taste is a back light in this type of black backgrounds beside the main light source, totally a very good shot Alex, thanks and regards,mo :)

This a good profile of a man who is not being very expressive and who was caught at an unflattering moment. If your first shot of him was cropped, it is a better candidate for manipulation in processing.

I like the idea, i think the light should be moved a little to the subject left and also his head turned slightly as well, you have picked the hair detail out very well I would like to see that lighting applied to the beard area as there is a lot of texture there to breathe life into this image.
