Absolutely amazing photo. I like how you put the bird and branches in higher left corner, that makes nice thirds. You also got the eye contact, which IMO is very important in photographing animals. Also incredible background, I joust have to ask you if you used a Photoshop to blurring it?
Thank you for sharing it:)

I like the way you used the free space in this image, john, it make a whole world of difference than if you did not leave it all there...I can imagine the water below, the fishes in it, and they birds attention is all where I "see" the rest of it
your bird is well detailed and nicely colored, my only bother is the blurred branch under the bird,,,,I know it is part of the one over (higher) still I would clone it out...
good image!

Hello John. I like the beautiful colors of this kingfisher, with very good sharpness and nice composition. The branches lighten and the dark background are a perfect complement to this picture. Regards, Rosario.

Very beautiful nature portrait. Good lighting and a fine composition. But I like to see a closer shot (if posible), or a smaller crop. Anyway, a beautiful picture.

John, What a great shot. The picture is very sharp and the dark background really helps to bring out the bird.
