This is a really nice environmental portrait, showing a typical developing world subject--a small vendor making a living in a makeshift shop. The lighting circumstances were challenging, creating impossibly high levels of contrast. The photographer has done a good job of minimizing the impact of the blown whites, while still maintaining important shadow details in the subject's face, through the use of monochrome. Consider cropping out some of the left side--it contains an awful lot of detail, and its a bit on the bright side. Cropping would shift the subject away from the center of the image and might improve it compositionally. I don't think the out of focus bottles in the front represent a huge weakness, but be aware that some foto critiques would consider this to be a flaw. Critiques could provide better advice if you'd include details on f stop and lens.

I included f-stop and lens. I know my theory, so I don't need advice there. I actually like the vendor in the centre, and the pole at the rule of thirds. Darkening the left side is a good suggestion, I'll try that.
