The lines in the wood represent the straightening of light done by polarizing filters

Thumb-up    from stefan1941/Stefan (335) Send mail to this user on December 10, 2011 12:48:51 AM CST (1) Early critique

Employment is not bad, but the filter is not obvious all over the image. Should always be capitalized possibilities camera lens. Visit more of photos of others. We can learn many interesting things. Nice weekend! With regards, Stefan

Not sure this is an exciting subject and I don't get whatever you tried to present. Maybe we have a failure of communication here.

not sure that is much of a reason to warrant a thumbs down necessarily but everyone has their own opinions. In any case, thanks for the critique. I will try to do better next time

The thumb down just says it is a boring or uninspired image. No offense is intended, and quite frankly the image is not that interesting. I understand what you saw with the lines on the table top, but it just doesn't jump out that much. Now if you had a random pattern on the table top and only saw straight lines, then it steps up a notch. Here's a hint; try it with different colors and use a color filter to pass what you want. It's not quite polarization as such, but it can illustrate the same thing very effectively.
