Good angle view in this work, Scott, good idea with B&W. However I think that I would prefer to try to make few steps to the right, due to the fact that there are some cutted elements which are situated on the left side of photo near the frame, rotate your camera few degrees to the left side, because it will help you here with better capture bow. Beside try to remove or simply clone-out this dust which is situated in down part of photo on the middle. Regards, Michal.

Thank you Michal. If I remember correctly, there were a few things blocking better framing - a tree and a fence. I agree with your angle-view - something I have been doing more in my recent work.

Interesting photo, Scott
and I find your portfolio in general very interesting - your photos and eye seem to continuously improve!!
Regarding this photo: I love the interplay of lines and geometrical shapes. The B&W works well and exposure has been very well handled.
My one concern is that my little brain is a little overwhelmed by the complexity and I would suggest simplifying the photo a little by cropping at the left past the pole at the bottom of the frame, at the bottom t cut out the part of the white mast below the front sail.
Regards
Fritz

Thanks very much for your critique, Fritz. That pole turned out to be a problem in that it does not belong to the main vessel. If I understand your crop correctly, the netting would be eliminated. I do like that element. Probably as previous suggested, a better viewpoint is the answer. I just like the graphic quality of the composition.

There is a bit of a new ship and old ship combination here that does not hold my interest. The exposure and other technical issues look well managed. I would have worked on composing from down low trying to isolate the bow, netting and other aspects of the apparently older boat; looking to eliminate the radar / electronics domes. Regards. Bill

Hello, Bill. Nice to hear from you - agree fully with your suggestion. I think there may have been a fence issue but no excuses. Thank you.

Love the b/w toning on this, and lots of interesting lines. I can imagine it was pretty tough trying to settle on a composition for this, However, for me, I would have put the tall mast more to the right of the frame with less netting showing and perhaps instead capturing the front point of the boat. And yes, I know you mentioned you do not want to remove the foliage in the upper right corner, but I honestly think it really detracts from the photo, and I would have not known it to be anything but some kind of flaw in the photo if you had not said what it was.

Thanks for the critique, Steve. No excuses for what I had to deal with - there was extensive foliage on the right and to be honest . . . I may not have realized that orphan foliage remained. But it is a happy mistake in my mind. If I remove it, I think this becomes just more of a technical graphic. I had to look up the word "whimsy" to justify my choice. The trees also prevented me from including more detail on the right. I understand your feeling about the position of the mast and I would agree except I like very much the play of light off the netting.

Hello, nice photo Navy. the axis of the photo is nice. contrasting black, gray and white are beautiful. I blame the gray mass on the left, and I focused more on canvas right., keeping the same vanishing point ... thank you for sharing.
