Thumb-down Thumb-down    from sometimeswords/Gary (1,986) Send mail to this user on September 5, 2010 12:09:28 PM CDT (6) Early critique

Hi Don, hope this helps....

First thing to strike me is that all the interest is in the top right of the frame, the other three quarters is wasted space since it doesn't add any energy or life to the image. In fact, the composition is pretty non-existant.

Next, you have dodged the guys face and the girls wetsuit far too much, it looks like a bad cut'n'paste image. The swan is so close to the edge of the frame as to be un-important.

To be honest, I don't think this will ever make a memorable image, perhaps it best to start again?

Technically, this is a mess Don. There is a pattern across the image that may be the result of oversharpening and/or some processing or bad effects. If this were not digital I would say it was a scan problem in addition.

The composition is not good either with a swath of OOF sand in the foreground. There is a weird halo over the head in the water as if from poor dodging to make it brighter. I wish there was something to point out that was good. Can you say what you did, or did not do to the image from its RAW original? :)Robin
