Ordinarily I would like the way you composed this... I like the idea of all the "room" around the bird the way it's facing. But here I think the background grasses are just too much... to bright... to saturated... almost dizzying. The bird is getting lost in my opinion. Perhaps crop in a bit and/or desaturate the background a little?

I totally agree. This led me to try some different approaches and it looks like cooling the white balance and dropping the saturation a little will work. Thank you for you input, Mark.
