I think this is a purple milk vetch. I picked it from the roadside here in Greece. I used a tripod and remote cable and lit the flower with two handheld LED flashlights. I used f/32 to give as deep as possible DOF but I'm not sure if that was a good setting to use or not. I'd appreciate advice on how to do a better job. Thanks.

Very nice!

I really like the darkness - a different take on an otherwise common theme.

The contrast between the purple and green is very nice.

Gorgeous shot. Thanks for posting it.

Hi Adrian, This is exactly what I have been challenging all shooter's to do. The depth is great, f/32 is probably all you need for this flower & 1/2 SS provides adequate light. The only thing I would suggest you try is the use of the "repeating built in flash"(if your camera offers the option) for maximum light. I am a Nikon user and not familiar with your Canon.

Adrian, this is a lovely image...very sharp and a good composition. I think the dark background helps the colors pop on this, however, my eye wants a little more light on the subject. Thanks for sharing.
