Thumb-up    from jroessler/John (14,149) This user is a Premium Member Send mail to this user on January 31, 2010 7:42:27 AM CST (2) Early critique

I won't comment on the style of the portrait as I suspect there are cultural aspects to it that don't fit with the midwestern U.S. style. As shots this tight go it isn't bad and I think you have done some decent Photoshop work; most specifically leaving some texture in her skin. Different parts of her face are a slightly different color and that is a little distracting; left side of face from right.

Others may not Giuseppe, but I am a fan of tightly cropped head shots. Your image here is no exception. The skin tone looks great, along with your exposure and contrast. The makeup of your subject also looks good with no complexion problems that I can see. The hair is grand except for those few loose strands on the forehead. I do like the loop lighting that you have employed, but I believe that you main light might be a little too high. The reason I say that is there appears too much of a shadow cast on your subjects' right eye from the eyelashes, and the eyelash shadows, underneath the eyes, are a bit too elongated. The grey area in the upper righthand corner is a bit distracting, perhaps you may consider re-cropping the image to eliminate a little of that area. Only my opinions Giuseppe, I wish that I could do as well. Thanks-Ed

Thank for the detailed comments. I agree with you: some shadows are too strong here. Unfortunately I had not the full controls of all lights! Giuseppe
