I was using f2 aperture to get the background blur then i was afraid the bird wasn't sharp enough ,good thing the sony Zeiss lens is so good as you can see from photo, I hope you like it.......

Great shot of a beautiful bird.  I love the background, and the contrast it adds to the head of the bird.  As for composition, I think if you moved the bird over to the right, it would look better, give more room for the bird to look into, and would add more interest (rule of thirds).  I think if you had a little bit more depth of field, it would have helped.  It looks like some of the feathers on the bird are in focus, and some aren't, depending on how close they are to the camera.  I would have liked to see them all in focus.  If we could see the feet of the bird, that would have made it a better shot rather than having it cut off like it is.  But still, it's a very striking photo.

I like the colours and the background helps to show off the raptor, but IMHO I think a portrait shot of it showing the rest of its body would have been better. Tim

Hi Peter, good shots back to back. You've managed to blur the background nicely, and the focus on the eye is good -- really like the reflection. But the shot seems to call out for a more natural vertical crop. This is a beautiful bird, but the way you have framed the shot it looks cut-off. Do you have the bird in a full-frame shot that shows all of its body? Is this image the result of a cropping decision? Thanks, Vince

i took this photo at raptor center, the bird feet have ties and label, i crop it so you can see the bird face detail better .
