I think a vignette would really help with the sand being so dominant. Also the pink sky should be an easy fix and the logo on the umbrella need to be cloned out. I think the sky could use just a touch more contrast and maybe even a bit of blue too. Awesome composition! And good eye.

Thanks Justin! Did not even think about the logo, now it stands out like a sore thump. :-)

Ypu are on to somethng here with this photograph. The color of the sand does compete wit the rest of the photograph. The pinkish color on the left side can be removed with a litle post editing. I don't know if cropping is necessary if you get rid of the pinkish tone, thanks for sharing

There is a wonderful sense of surrealism to this image and I can easily see it as an editorial illustration. There is great story-telling going on here. Who are the children, why are they at the beach, what is their relationship to each? I think the strong, bright, saturated colours work within this context, as does the sharpness of the sand and central figures. Compositionally, I like the juxtaposition of the pink tones in the sky with the bright pink umbrella, and the boy's bright yellow shirt and the sand. There is a lot going on in this picture...

I find the pose compelling in this photo. I think the color of the sand is to strong and out competes the people for attention.

The pink in the sky picks up and plays nicely with the pink in the umbrella. However, again, I think the pink sky color is to strong.

I would try cropping the sky through about the middle of the hot spot.

Stunning effect of the foreground elements and the ocean. These two people look like they are standing a few feet away from me! I'd get rid of the writing/logo on the umbrella. The sky is a dull let down however. :)Robin

A comment that I would like to add is that the photo (in my heart) shows the hearts of the VietNameses who had relatives who live somewhere 'better than where they live' (under communism) look like the people in this photo who longs for the letters, gifts, thoughts from far beyond lands. - Just a thought from the .... photographer!
