The image is both wonderful and difficult to look at. This is one case where the short description of the circumstances adds immensely to the impact of the image. Title is also good. The beauty of the bird's feathers contrasts with the sadness of the event. The shape of the wing and body and head is beautiful, but again it contrasts starkly with the reality that the shape is only possible in death.
More depth of field on this image would be good, so the patterns of the feathers are sharp in the foreground, and the more distant body is also more in focus, although the body is not as important to the image as the nearest feathers' patterns. I am sad. -- Carl.

Thank you Carl:)
I am sad too, this is why I did a few photos of it...I held it for a while in my hands, feeling at times I was kind of violating a private moment, this is all I could do for the poor bird, something to let him be remembered by....
It also made me unconfortable to pull a wing to make an expressive shot, I do love birds, I feed them , have been for 30 years....a strange moment it was.

So sad and beautiful at the same time. It's like seeing a loved one dressed for burial. The patterns create a poetry in the image. IMHO there should be more DOF so the entire image is in focus, mainly because of the repeating patterns. B/W was a good choice. Happy shooting (or in this case, sad). Frank.

Too bad for the bird. The fanned out wing with beautiful patterns helps the composition. The base that the bird is on has some odd areas of light and dark in addition to the shadows. :)Robin

Thank you Robin:)
I used a white sheet of paper with a light over it (the bird)
a very simple setting, I was holding the wing, so had to shoot with one hand

Beautiful, emotive photo. The white background contrasts very well to the bird's plumage. The pose is depressing (I suppose that would be expected)...and it works very well here. The bird is a bit soft, but aside from that, very well done!

Thank you Ilya:)
it is nice to know I could at least impress some emotion in my shot, this is what I was aiming for...
