I had the pleasure of spending the entire day yesterday taking shots on the beach with my good friend John Goyer from California. This photo is dedicated to you John, I hope you enjoyed your visit to my part of Florida.

Hi Bob. Love the HDRI effect on the water. Really adds a nice texture and lighting without getting too weird. Also, you got a nice little bit of sunset reflection off the wet sand which really balances the image. The pier of course it great for a strong subject with an angle to the distance.

My only niggle is that the further parts of the water are a bit unevenly dark. Is this from the HDRI. I don't think you used a graduated ND filter.

And yes, John is a great guy! :)Robin

Glad you like the effect, it's easy to get carried away and weird with HDR.. I showed some self control this time. I not sure if the further parts of the water are dark because of HDR. I'll have to check my original RAW files to see what the deal is! I asked John about you and he said you were a nice person... somehow I already know that! Thanks for your input on this one Robin!

Thanks Bob. It's cool when people meet here and get together. I think John and I inspire each other photographically and he is a really good and talented person. Glad you two hooked up. :)Robin

The pleasure is mutual! I wish I had dragged myself over to this point of view while we still had light! the pier is very well captured and even the clouds move our eyes towards the sunset - I like the detail and color in the shore but I might think about cropping it to remove it as a potential distraction - looking forward to your night shots ;-) John

I thought about cropping out the bottom but wanted to see if I got the suggestion to do so. Great to see you! Thanks John!

Very nice warm colors of sunset. The composition and sharpness are excellent. The way you pose the pier also lovely. Good work Bob. And thanks for sharing! Regard

Lovely colors and composition. Lines go directly to the sun, bt the sun is not there, because sunset. This idea gives a nice equilibrium to all the photography. Thanks fot sharing and cheers
